5 Baby Shower Games

Baby showers are a lot of fun, especially the games, at least that’s what I’ve learned. Since having my first son I have been to a few of my own baby showers (not hosted by me) and a few for other moms. Many people believe a baby shower has to be this huge affair but it doesn’t it can be as big or small as you want it.
Here’s a quick list of games you might want to play:
- toilet paper squares- I’m sure this has a name to it but it’s basically the guessing game. You’ll need one roll of toilet paper. Have each guest tear off as many sheets as they think the mom-to-be is big. After everyone has their sheets she’ll have someone wrap her tummy and count the squares. The one closest gets the win. You’ll be amazed at some of the responses
- Guess the Flavor- This one is only for those that can hack trying something new and I mean trying baby food. Before the party tape a number to the bottom of a baby food jar, write on a piece of paper what that number is and take the label off. Have each guest take a teaspoon of the jar and write their guess. The one that guesses the most correct wins. It’s fun to watch the faces.
- Finish this- Finish the nursery rhyme, which means buy that book and start things like “Humpty Dumpty had a great…” let your guests quickly write down their answer and try another, “Jack be nibble, jack be quick, jack ….” The person with the most correct wins. Course giving the book with everyone’s signature inside would be a nice gift to give the mom-to-be.
- What’s in the Box- This is a box full of small items that you’ll need for baby. Place about 15 items inside and let each guest see the box for a few seconds and take it to the next person, then they have to write it all down. The one that remembers the most and with the right name wins. Try getting them all new and still in packages, so that after the game they can all be given to mom.
- Baby pins- Before the party go out and buy a thing of clothes pins or necklaces with tiny bottles on. As each guest arrive give them a necklace or a pin. Every time someone says “baby” and someone catches them they have to give up their bottle. The one with the most bottles/clothes pins wins.
What are some of your favorite baby shower games?

Honestly, I don’t really like shower games. Except the toilet paper one is kinda fun. And there’s one that’s kinda like scrabble that’s okay, too.
Have more black people games! Thank-you
Whooo! My Shower was great!
Trisha- I was curious if you could list some. I honestly thought these games could be played by all. However if you know of some specifically geared towards races feel free to list them for others. These just seem to be really popular amongst baby showers.
I never knew baby shower games were ethnic in nature. Go figure.
Why must everything be segregated?
These are great, classic games to play. Another of my all time favorites is the “pins in rice” game. It’s so easy to plan for. Just fill a small bowl with uncooked rice and about 20 safety pins. Take the bowl to each guest, ask her to cover her eyes and give her 30 seconds to pick out as many safety pins as she can from the bowl.
It sounds so easy but it’s really difficult! My guests were talking about this for days after my shower!
