Are You a Germophob?

As a mother to four I find it very hard to answer yes or no to this question. Yes, I still have my little annoyances but for the most part I’m less of a germophob (scared of germs) now. But when my first son, now 11-years-old, was little I’d wipe everything down in the house. Anything he could come in contact with just in case it would get him sick. When we’d go to parks I’d wipe off the swings before putting him in them, even if it was with my own shirt and the rain water that was normally on the seat.

Today, now that I already have three under my belt, this little man could touch just about anything and get away with it. I still wipe things down but only like seats at a restaurant, tables, etc. I know when we first moved out here we took all four kids to this “Paradise” place that had balls and all types of fun things for kids to do. I brought Little A to the toddler room and I wanted to get sick, this is the one place that can drive me nuts. I think I’d be fine if I saw a staff member nearby with a bottle of spray in hand but nope. There were two toddlers by themselves, one with a runny nose and the other just wondering. I saw liquid on the floor and spit, I’m guessing it was spit. I actually stayed and let mine play, course I must state I did make sure it was a clean looking corner of the room.  I can’t stand ball pits either as you never know when it was cleaned last.

Recently in the news Katie Holmes was slammed because she appeared on set of Tom’s newest filming and was going to take Suri to the park. However she noticed it wasn’t really cleaned and left Suri in the car (buckled, with window down) and told her she’d be back. Katie was armed with a spray bottle and wipes and cleaned the swings. Does this sound like a typical new mom? It does to me as I’ve been there and done that.

Are any of you like this? Are you or are you not a germophob? I was in the beginning but I’m more relaxed about it now.
