Aunties and Uncles and Cousins, Oh My!

There’s an old saying, “Children are the poor man’s jewels.”

To my mind there is nothing more precious, more beautiful or more valuable to me than my children. But, like people who posess shiny things to wear that they think are pretty hot, I enjoy showing off my children to be admired. Nothing does my heart better than hearing how lovely, how cute, how polite and intelligent they are.

We’ve been travelling to see the friends and relatives. I saw many of my mother’s siblings and my cousins. Did I ever feel good about the attention they lavished on my children. My little jewels.

All physical difficulties aside, this kind of experience, is the best part of motherhood.

I am jealous! We only get to see our family once a year. My mom is coming up to see KM for her first birthday. I can’t wait. Way to go!

Before this trip, I hadn’t seen my sister or niece in almost two years. My mother and brother travel a little more often, but once a year is about average. Luckily, it’s been a nice long visit and we still have 9 more days.
