Baby Book Shower Trend

200607261352.jpgBaby book showers have become the trendy baby shower these days. Why? Probably because no one seems to duplicate the same thing and it stocks up on the baby’s book collection.

Many times I’ve been to a baby shower, or had one for the matter and received multiple items of the same outfit, diaper genie or something else. While it is great to have a baby shower, if you already have a child chances are you have a lot of the items you’d get at one. Instead, have a book shower and check out all the neat books that’ll come inside your home. Some will be books you’ve never seen while others will be old favorites you’d forgot about. The best part is you’ll have memories to last a lifetime with your new baby, all you have to do is open a book.

Some ideas for your own baby book shower:

Decorations can be anything from straight color, character, or if you have time cut out tiny book shaped items and make a chain with them. Maybe everyone that shows up can write a favorite book of theirs on one or five of the books (chains). This would give the mom some new book ideas the next time she goes shopping.

Cake- The shape of a book, closed or open. Or maybe a character from one of your favorite nursery rhymes.

Games- You can do guess the character, the alphabet game, read a page, share a memory, or any other baby shower games.

Thank You Gift- Take a picture of the baby with the book, whether you are reading to him/her or he/she has the book propped up beside him/her. Everyone loves new pictures of a baby, this shows you are using the book.

As you can see there are many ideas you can do when it comes to having a book shower and if you are the mom there are tons of books that can show up on your dining room table. Still not sure what type of book to get? There are tons of books for a baby: Touch and Feel, board books, pop up books, read to me book, chapter books, books for mom, etc.

I like the idea of a book shower. If you chose a book that was a bedtime book, you could even tie in bedding, pjs, etc.

  2. There is a new website called My Book Stork that is a baby book registry. It is an adorable site with tons of great books. It sends out cute baby book announcements too. Part of every sale goes to different charities. (prices are comparable to Amazon I already checked :) )

I am throwing a baby shower and want the guests to bring a book instead of a card, do you have any “fun” ways of putting/writing that on the invite.

    Debbie,
I created a registry at my bookstork.com. They send out announcements to all of your friends and family. You can write what you want them to read too. They sent me invites in the mail and slips to put in my own cards. Makes it really easy. No duplicate books. Let me know if you need anymore suggestions.

http://www.weecow.com also offers a book registry. It’s cute, well organized and you can shop as well. I love this idea! They sent me cute little cards to put in my invitations…I recommend:)
