You know I don’t honestly know how true this is but there are reports and articles coming out stating that those of you that have pictures of your baby inside your wallet will more likely get

them back. The University of Hertfordshire decided to put this to the test and tried this on 40 different wallets. Inside the wallets were all types of things, some had pictures of babies, others puppy, families and even older couples. Which ones were returned most of the time? The ones with a baby in them.
The researchers planted each wallet about a quarter of a mile apart to ensure that people would be unlikely to find more than one.
The baby photograph wallets had the highest return rate, with 88 per cent of the 40 being sent back. Next came the puppy, the family and the elderly couple, with 53 per cent, 48 and 28 respectively. At 20 per cent and 15, the charity card and control wallets had the lowest return rates.
The study’s supervisor Professor Richard Wiseman, from the University of Hertfordshire, has now announced that 42% of the wallets were returned in total. Notably, 88% of those featuring the baby picture found their way home – compared to 53% for the puppy, 48% for the family and 28% for the elderly couple.
Here’s a few questions to think about on why they returned the wallets with the baby in them:
- Were the ones that found them honest already?
- Did the ones that find it have kids of their own?
- Did the ones that find it lose something before?
- What type of area was the wallets deposited?
While I’d like to believe that everyone has a gentle heart to those that have a pic of a baby in their wallet it does make me wonder. Course if this is the case and you don’t have a baby picture in your wallet you may want to go get one just to ensure it comes back to you. What do you think? Are people just nicer to those that have babies?
