Because We Live and Learn

I’ve already celebrated Thanksgiving, but when Julie at Play Library asked what we’re thankful for and MamaBlogga asked everyone to explain why we’re grateful for our children, I didn’t see any reason to stay silent.
There’s been a lot of talk of regret in parenthood lately. I can’t say that regret is an emotion I dwell on. And I have certainly never felt it surrounding my children, not even when my son’s mischief resulted in a head injury. And not even when I’ve made parenting mistakes and felt like I should not have had the right to reproduce. My children and I have the kind of relationship where there is room to celebrate imperfection. Their’s. Mine. We just do our best to love and learn, but mostly just love. It’s the most remarkable gift and the one I am most grateful for.
You know, that was just a short post, but it was so emotional to write that I found it much, much easier to tell Heather what chocolate product I am grateful for…

what an adorable picture! Thank you for sharing!!
What a wonderful relationship to have! Thanks so much for participating again!
That’s what it’s all about.
Re: head injury… are you okay????
Mme. Yes, it was a while ago. I seem to have some permanent numbness to pain, but that is actually convenient.
Short and to the point but so true. Love is something to be truly grateful for.
Oh, how I hate mommy guilt! No one is perfect, and if moms just learned to accept that we would all be happier.
