Casey Anthony Update

September 12, 2008 by Eliza Ferree

Has anyone been watching updates on the Casey Anthony case? I only have a minute left but I read there have been charges made finally. So maybe we’ll hear more about this soon. I do know there have been protests in and around her family home and her grandfather got a bit out of hand the other day, can’t really blame him though, he’s so broken hearted. I’ll update more when I can here is a link: http://www.myfoxorlando.com/myfox/pages/News/Detail?contentId=7409128&version=7&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=3.2.1

The charges are related to other things – writing bad checks, theft, ect. I wonder when they will actually figure out what happened. This could go on forever, couldn’t it?

  2. i live in new zealand and was recently on holiday in the US. I would love updates on this case as it is a tragedy many thanks as i have no way of knowing of the outcome. sue

  3. Sues says:

That girl wouldn’t know the truth if it slapped her in the face ! She only cares about #1 her. All this press coverage is sadly just building & throwing more attention on her & she is eating it right up too :(

  4. Vicky says:

This woman is wooried about herself no one else, if there truly was a babysitter the cops could find her cell number on Casey’s phone bills. The babysitter and everything else that has come out of Casey’s mouth is a lie.

  5. Kim says:

This woman is evil. You can hear it in the taped phone messages when she was in jail. She only wanted her boyfriends phone number. What a sicko. I think she accidently killed the little one, keeping her quiet with the chloroform so she could party. When she realized what she did she put poor Caylee in the swamp for the alligators so no one would find the body. If so, the authorities should do the same to her, first let her bake in a car like she probably did to Caylee, and then feed her to the alligators!

  6. Dawn says:

I just want to know why she hasn’t been charged yet? WTH???? I have been following this from day one and it’s just the most absurd story I’ve ever heard of. They have all the proof they need. How many other people have been put up in front of a jury because they didn’t have enough evidence and they’re sitting in jail for life? Put this girl up there – make her break for once and for all. This is truly SICK. My heart breaks for what happened to that poor baby – Casey will pay her price someday – even if the law doesn’t make her – GOD will~~!!

  7. Kim says:

I agree with Dawn, charge her and put her in jail. They have convicted people with less evidence. I wonder if they charge her and she knows she is going away for life or put to death if she will make a deal and tell them where she put Caylee? I am in Iowa, does Florida have the death penalty?

  8. Dawn says:

Thanks Kim. I don’t know if they have the death penalty in Florida – I’m in CT. But I can tell you this – she’d suffer more in prison than the death penalty. Those women will chew her up and spit her out. She doesn’t deserve to die comfortably. It just kills me that they have true positive DNA that Caylee’s body was in her trunk – decomposed and they haven’t charged her with murder. I seriously don’t get it.

  9. brenda says:

I live in Greenville SC. We had a 7 year old child murdered by his mother. It took 3 months before she was charged. Not because of the evidence, but because of the lack of any. They have enough evidence to get casey but they want to make sure all ducks are in a row

  10. Dawn says:

Well, it’s about time. I heard on the news this morning that Casey is no longer a “person of interest” but now a “suspect”. Maybe Brenda’s right, they just want to make sure that everything is in place before they make the final arrest for murder. After all, wouldn’t it suck if she got off on a “hung jury” or something like that. I can’t wait until all this comes out so we can all rest knowing that Casey will finally pay for this disgusting, low-life act.

  11. Ramona Solomon says:

Could it be possible that she fed the body of the little girl to an alligator? Sounds gross, but she acts so strange, I cannot imagine not notifying the police when the little girl first went missing.

  12. Kim says:

Brenda, how did the case in your area turn out? I was wondering what the mother was charged with and if they had enough evidence to convict? It is just awful that there are mothers that will kill their children. Like Andrea Yates in Texas someone should have seen that something was wrong. Casey’s parents should have been more aware of her state of mind not just worried about the money, car and gas cans missing. My parents cannot go a day without seeing or talking to their grandchild, sure wouldn’t take a month for one of them to notice I am “childless”.

  13. WNEDY says:

i think they should arrest the mother father
brother lee and casey and make them tell what
they did. the father knew something was in the trunk, the mother washed clothes, obviously knew something was not right, lee knows something, why this poor baby was left with no
family support is dispictable. arrest them all
the mother being a nurse obviously got the cloroform so they could have a cheap babysitter.

all quilty may god punish them
and please bless the baby girl.
    \

  14. Jen says:

“does Florida have the death penalty?”

We do have the DP in FL. We excuted Ted Bundy and Aileen Warnous. It takes awhile (years of appeals) but it gets done…

  15. Kim says:

Thanks Jen, I had forgotten about Bundy and should have remembered Warnous as I watched the movie Monster. As I stated before, maybe if prosecutors put the death penalty on the table Casey may say what happened in exchange for life in prison. Both are too good for her, I say let her die the same way poor Caylee did. Whatever that little baby had to suffer through is how Casey should die. Plus I think she should be thrown to the alligators alive. I know it is cruel but no one protected that baby, no one needs to protect the mother. The family also needs some kind of prosectution. Of all people the dad should have suspected something was wrong, isn’t he a cop? I think everything Casey has done she has done with the assistance of her family, who better to get ideas to avoid prosecution from than a cop? I just want to cry everytime I see that angels face, I could not imagine hurting a child.

  16. Ken says:

As a retired CSI, I am convinced that the investigators do have enough evidence to prosecute Casey and likely will file when ready. What people dont understand is that it routinely takes about a year to prepare homicide cases for court. This case could take longer with 84 witnesses to subpoena, over 600 pages of interviews, hours of taped interviews, forensic evidence data and reports, all of which need to be put in order and lined up for court presentation. If they file charges now, they have to have all thier ducks in a row within 60 to 90 days because Casey’s attorney will surely demand a speedy trial. 60 days is not enough to ready such a case for court, even if all the evidence is in. The time will come and the case will be lock tight because they are taking their time in filing criminal charges. Casey will go down and likely finally plead guilty to some lesser charge if possible, once she is faced with the evidence. Yes, DP would help encourage her to plead. See you at the trial. Be patient. Her time will come.

  17. Kim says:

    Ken,

If Caylee is buried under the cement slab in the back yard would the dogs have been able to pick that up? Also, there seems to be more to the gas can involvement than just filling her car with stolen gas, if she burned her would the dogs pick that up as well? And, if she did put her with the alligators would it be possible to determine that? Like test the water or something? My dad says no but I bet with the advances in technology they could determine something.

My uncle is an FBI agent in West Virginia and when I asked him his opinion he said the entire family is hiding information. That the public will be shocked when everything comes out.

Do you think the parents will be charged with anything? I think they have tried to cover for Casey after realizing she did kill Caylee.

  18. Ken says:

    Kim,
If Caylee was buried under the slab, I’m sure the dogs would have scented the body. I believe the dogs had “false positives” in the backyard because immediately after Caylee’s death, Casey either hid Caylee in the backyard playhouse til dark or had her clothing or the shovel she used back there before removing everything to another location. If Caylee was already in a plastic bag, there would be only faint scent for the dogs to pick up on, from indirect contact with wherever she was hidden briefly.
I agree with the gas can involvement but there’s multiple scenarios for their use. Most obvious seems to be to burn Caylee’s body, but another would be to be able to drive two gas cans worth of mileage, to dump the body out of town, without having to stop at gas stations where you might be identified by patrons or video cameras while making purchases of extra gas. A couple of five gallon cans equal ten gallons or enough to travel up to an extra few hundred miles round trip without stopping at public places. That, to me, would mean if she did use it for that purpose that she must have dumped the body within 100-150 miles. Most likely she used the gas or planned to use the gas to burn the body but remember also that a ten gallon blaze would attract attention from the high flames and black smoke from the petroleum product. I think it it was her, coming out of the woods near the airport, as described by one witness, that Casey was looking for somewhere to dump or burn Caylee’s body.
I too was thinking all along that Casey might have dumped Caylee in some alligator pond. If so, we are likely out of luck after this much time since the only thing left would be bits of clothing fragments or some undigested small bone fragments in the bottom of the muddy, silt layered pond. I doubt testing the water would work but again dogs searching around such known ponds or bodies of water might at least scene some decomposition if any parts remained. Time is a major factor for such searches and it seems it is long past time for such a search if alligators are involved.
Most likely she shoved the poor little body in a plastic bag and then dumped it in a dumpster after keeping it in the trunk for days while trying to think what to do with it. Who would notice such a small bag in a big pile of trash? Such a tiny body would decompose quickly in a landfill and it would be a miracle if it was ever found there though dogs might be able to help since GPS tracking can identify the general area where at least one possible dumpster was dumped the landfill. The problem is which dumpster did she really put the body in?
Her enabling parents will likely not be charged though they have obviously interfered with the investigation in many ways including cleaning Casey’s clothes that smelled like a dead body. Casey’s father, a retired policeman, obviously knew what that smell was and though they mentioned it when first upset by Caylee’s disappearance, have steadfastly protected Casey since in every manner they could. I agree they know and have decided that, while they lost their grand daughter, they don’t want to lose their daughter at any cost. I don’t respect the Anthony’s, no matter what their loss since it seems more and more obvious, they enabled Casey to become the monster she is by giving her everything she ever wanted and by listening to and perhaps believing her lies for so many years. It started before Caylee. Remember Casey dropped out of school and never graduated. She was already controlling her parents back then. Yes I believe the entire family is hiding information and protecting Casey now and to me that makes them accessories. To many it just makes them concerned parents. If it were our kids involved, most of us would be pressuring them from the start to come clean and would be letting them sit in jail until either charged or the truth came out. The Anthony family is not normal and Casey is just a product of that dysfunction. I also believe that if Casey gets off or is convicted but only serves a few years, she will get pregnant again to offer up a replacement for her parents and then be forgiven since they will have a new grandchild to dote over. Casey is a Sociopath who will always be in trouble, always look out for herself and when all is said and done, likely never admit to anything and is just waiting for this all to go away so she can go party again.

  19. Eliza says:

@Ramona- not strange at all, I’ve thought this for a long time. She doesn’t believe she’ll be found guilty as she knows there is no body.

@Kim- Yes, Florida has executed a total of 60 people since 1976. (that’s a quote from a website). Yes, Mr.Anthony was a cop or retired cop.

My thoughts, I agree with Ken as to how it went down. Some thoughts also that she may have thought of burning the remains but just couldn’t. Took her out of the spot she was hidden/buried, took the gas can and just drove. Suddenly it occured to her to drop Caylee off in one of those ponds as no one would find her due to the alligators. Very sad. As for the grandparents, I don’t think they knew at first. I do think she told them someone kidnapped her daughter and they might’ve believed her at first. But maybe something dawned on the father and he began realizing, mom wouldn’t have wanted to believe something so horrid. She could’ve even told them they would never find out where she dropped her off if they ratted her out. Wanting to eventually find their precious granddaughter’s remains they’ve kept quiet. Or just can’t believe it. It’s a horrible story, regardless. But I really think if she were innocent she would’ve looked tooth and nail for that little girl. Any mom that loved their child would.

  20. Kim says:

Ken, I agree with what you are saying plus I think she left her in the car under the influence of the chloroform so she could party. Then “forgot” her. In the Florida heat it wouldn’t take too long. I hope they arrest her soon, but like you said I do hope they have everything ready so she cannot get a light sentence. I cannot imagine what went through her mind when she found her, well for her she probably didn’t feel all that bad. But then again, when you see the pictures of her and Caylee you can see she loves her, or did at one time. I think she should have called the EMT’s right then, wouldn’t it have been an accident? (well without the chloroform) Have you read through some of the IM’s between her and the first Tony (Italian something was his screen name) he was a cop I think, in those you can see what she is trying to do. Caylee must have been alive at that time though because she wouldn’t come to see him because she says she has no sitter, even though she is waiting for Zannie to get home. ??

  21. Kim says:

One more thing, if it happened the way Ken is saying, she would have had to drive around with the body and keep moving it. Right there shows she is wacked, she should have went right to a hospital, morgue, police station. Eliza, This is just an impossible situation, being the grandparents. I have a daughter in college who is Casey’s age, (she doesn’t have any children) I don’t know if I could be that loyal to her. I know I couldn’t. But then again I don’t think most of us good mothers would have let things go that far, we would have seen the signs and done something about it, like Cindy said at one point she was going to take Caylee away from Casey, oh the guilt she must feel now for not doing that. I think the dad, George, was trying to keep the peace by laying low and going along with whatever Cindy and Casey did or thought. I have no idea about Lee, he seems strange too, but maybe he had to be in Casey’s shadow his whole life. Like someone said before, Casey had control of that family from the beginning. The worst is the picture/video of the great grandfather and Caylee. How sad. Something is just wrong in that family.

  22. Eliza says:

@Kim- I agree totally on the grandparents, but someone stated they really bent over backwards for her. I know some that are like that, not myself, no way…not when it comes to kids. This story is just sick and I really wish there was a better outcome then what we all can see right now, but it doesn’t look it. Another thing and I’m actually about to post it…police are looking in two wooded areas. Maybe she’s finally talking…or someone is.

  23. Ken says:

Yes, I think she used the chloroform to keep Caylee quiet while she partied or slept over, shopped or did drugs. Seems she may have also done some escort work based on her web searches of such services. I’m guessing she didn’t hesitate to commit prostitution if she could make some quick money and she liked her effect on men. Such activities would also call for Caylee to be put to sleep for periods while mom turned her tricks.

As far as Loving little Caylee, remember Casey is a chameleon. She smiles to the camera and knew what to do in public. I believe she is more like Dexter. She learned to imitate such feelings rather than actually having normal feelings about such things as love and motherly nurturing. Bottom line, she always wanted what she wanted and generally got it once way or another and Caylee represented more and more restriction upon her. Caylee was a tool to manipulate her parents into living there, cash when she needed it etc. that’s all. I’ve seen it again and again though the years. Sociopaths have little or no feeling or guilt.

She couldn’t call EMTs because of the Chloroform. She was probably gone for hours and returned to realize Caylee had been dead for quite some time or she actually planned it hoping to pass it off all along as a kidnapping. The computer searches about missing children months prior would lend credence to that also.

  24. Kim says:

Did they ever say where the chloroform came from, at one point someone said they thought it came from Cindy because she is a nurse. I had not heard about the prostitution thing or the missing children searches on her computer. She must have been planning for something to happen to Caylee for a long time, no wonder she has so many stories. I wonder if the computer searches for missing children will prove she planned this from the beginning?

I did see something today that was interesting, they are trying to find out if Caylee’s father was this Jesus Ortiz that died in the car accident. I looked at his myspace page, surprised it was still there, and I think there is a message from Casey and Caylee but it reads (Stephanie) on the profile along with her name. ? Or maybe it is not them but the news reporter claimed it was today in his report. You will have to see it. I just googled Jesus Ortiz and many results came up along with another good blog about him and Casey. I also didn’t hear about the two wooded areas unless that is around the airport, I hope they find her tonight so she can be put to rest. What a tragedy.

  25. Ken says:

They only found searches for Chloroform on her laptop. Its possible she stole some from Moms work place if she ever visited her there. I could just be she got interested in it after one of her drug friends suggested it as a source of baby sitter for her. Where she got it can only be guessed but since it was found in the trunk, she did get it somewhere.

Prostitution was my thought and has been all along once I saw the club photos. Shes very sexual, open to about anything physical with all manner of men and women and then the computer searches on her laptop for many escort services across the country and in her local area made me think she at least considered it as a source of quick cash.

The missing children searches will be used by the prosecution to show pre planning since it goes with her kidnap story. It just could be we give her too much credit for accidental death. Remember she was really mad at her mother and jealous of her relationship with Caylee. The “maybe Im just a spiteful bitch” quote by Casey may just be very true and the final argument wit her mom set her over the edge and she killed Caylee to spite mom, who she perceived as loving Caylee more than her. She cant even admit to accidental death at this point because she would have to lead them to the body and whatever she did to Caylee’s body was likely horrible and unforgivable even if the death was accidental and she knows it. She will never confess. If she goes to trial and as the jury goes out it looks like she might be going down to conviction, she will likely try to plea bargain at the last minute. Without the body, prosecutors wont likely accept a plea.

As far as I know police did search more wooded areas but last word was that all searches for even her body have been suspended meaning they are now just putting the case together and when ready will go ahead and file charges.

I still look for Casey to try and run if it looks like arrest is imminent. Hair color and a snip of the GPS device, some help from her brother or some other man she has conned into helping her and she will run like heck for Mexico or at least try. Her face is so familiar now, it will be tough to get away and thats good.

  26. Carol Drake says:

I think most of us believe that the argument on June 15th was the catalyst to whatever happened to Caylee………
    However this is my thought…………..

I believe that Caylee was increasingly becoming a liability to Casey. She was no longer a “baby” and was able to verbally communicate
on some level. She was gaining the ability to “inadvertantly” expose her mothers contruction of a life that didn’t exist. Granted, she was only
2 1/2, but she also was the only one that “knew” Casey didn’t work, and Zanny didn’t exist.

Example: When Casey returned home to Cindy’s (from her non-existent job) and said she picked up Caylee (from the non-existent baby-sitter -nanny’s)
(What the hell did she and Caylee do all day) This is a charade that on a daily basis Casey had to star in, create and maintain, “at all costs”.
Evidently so she wouldn’t have to get a job. Pretty elaborate to avoid working. But it seems extremely important to her to maintain the
illusion, as she continues to do in spite of “the facts”.
I am sure that many times Cindy must have asked Caylee, “what did you and Zanny do today?” Caylee could have said, “mommy and
me went to park”. Casey would have said, “oh, sometimes she calls Zanny mommy”. How cute, everyone laughs. So I think that the
continuing questioning of Caylee would have, if it didn’t already start to pose a problem for Casey ……… although Cindy wouldn’t get it
if it stared her in the face. Maybe one day in the future Caylee would have said, “who’s Zanny?” Maybe she already did…………

    For What It’s Worth,
    Carol

  27. Ken says:

I agree with the theory also that Caylee was likely a bit too talkative and becoming more of a liability as stated Carol. Be all accounts she was very talkative and if left alone with Cindy would have given up all of moms lies in short order. The jig was about up, as you say and thus Casey started searching the missing kids sites and planning on how to deal with her “snot nosed “daughter. All of the theories hold water and are likely all close to the total story.

  28. Kim says:

At one point Casey tells one of her boyfriends (on a text message) “I will have to teach Caylee to say that so when we get together she can say it to you” so that being said, she evidently could speak and understand things well. Then there is the story of Caylee sleeping in the same bed with Casey and whomever she was having relations with that night. I wonder just how much the little one was exposed to, that is probably one of the biggest reasons for her to have to die. So she wouldn’t tell grandma and grandpa her mom was a freak. She is such a little angel, Cindy and George should have taken her away the day she was born. I am sure Casey didn’t just wake up in the last 6 mos. and become a bad mom.
I also read about her being pregnant by one of the boyfriends just recently but having a miscarriage. She broke down in front of the guy at a party and cried hysterically about losing “their baby”. This was in July ‘08. Hmm, she didn’t shed a tear about losing Caylee. Hopefully she will be in prison for the rest of her life, or put to death soon, but just in case, sterilize her!

Ken, I agree with you about her leaving. She is just waiting for the right moment, or the right person to con into helping her. Does Mexico extradite??

  29. Eliza says:

I’ve udated this conversation adding to it that the police are now focusing on two parts… http://www.babylune.com/cadaver-dogs-search-for-caylee-anthony/

  30. Dawn says:

    Kim,

I have been following this sick twisted story from the beginning as millions of other concerned Americans have. I have posted my comments on this site in the past but last night I was watching Nancy Grace and for the first time saw the video of Caylee with her great grandfather. I was horrified to see how vulnerable, scared and sad Caylee seemed to be. What 2 1/2 year old baby would just lie on her grandpa’s lap with her head buried in his chest almost afraid to look around? I have 3 grand children – all girls – and one of them is going to be 3 in February. She is totally full of life and unless she was sick (maybe not even then) would she be so listless and lifeless. I don’t know if you picked up on that – but my God – someone should have. That poor little baby – what she must have been going thru – sheer Hell – exactly what Casey needs to go thru when this all comes out – everyone is waiting~~!!

  31. Ken says:

By all accounts, little Caylee was a talker, knew her name and could memorize songs and her favorite stories. Yes she was old enough to blow mom’s lies at any time.

Based on Casey’s lie record, the miscarriage was likely an abortion but if not her tears were likely just a ploy to gain attention from the boyfriend and others. Remember she really doesn’t have feelings and tears seem to come at will or as needed. I remember the images of her in court dabbing her eyes but I didn’t see tears and then she turns to the camera and family in the crowd and smiles. If she had tears it was likely because she was pissed at her predicament and loss of freedom, not any worries about her missing daughter. The Jail tapes constantly showed her nasty demeanor to family members, especially her mother who she talked to in rude and condescending terms.

There are a lot of problems with long prison terms in this case. If they just go for Manslaughter, she gets 5 to 10 max, if convicted, based on national averages and that usually means about one third time actually served and in many cases suspended sentences with five years probation. Remember also, juries today often have some bleeding heart or naive holdouts that refuse to listen to evidence or cant make up their minds and could lead to mistrial on hung jury or even acquittal. Watch court TV trials and no matter how much evidence is presented for conviction, the viewers vote 80 percent guilty and 20 percent innocent. In truth, unless convicted on first or second degree murder vs. manslaughter, she faces little prison time. The Chloroform is the one link police have to serious criminal charges in Caylee’s death since even accidental overdose has no defense based on the dangerous and illegal nature of the drug. Disposing of a corpse is usually almost rated a misdemeanor in many places and up to ten years in some jurisdictions and I wouldn’t be surprised if such a charge got her the biggest sentence.

I think the check charges being pushed now are a way to give her priors towards later sentencing in this case and to keep her behind bars for a bit while prosecution puts its case paperwork together. Likely her check charges would only net up to a year in jail but with no priors there either she could get probation under our liberal sentencing laws. Too bad Mom and grandparents haven’t followed through on the other thefts from mom’s credit cards and the grandparent’s retirement trusts. The latter would actually get her a bigger sentence than the current check charges involving only 750 dollars total and buy even more time for the prosecution to lay out their court case. If her attorney has laid out the maximum sentences likely for manslaughter etc, she will also likely just hold out even more knowing that, even if convicted, it will only mean a few years in prison and her being out by age 28 or so with plenty of time to con more men into feeling sorry for her. She has the personality to seduce even some poor prison guard into helping her or having sexual liaisons where she could end up suing the state over sexual harassment in prison and end up walking out with a huge settlement and book deal. Casey is the ultimate player and con artist and we will hear more of her though the years no matter what the outcome in this case. She will always be a manipulator in any situation and will spend the rest of her life in trouble or just become a community organizer, befriend Bill Ayers and end up with a cabinet post or college professorship.

Mexico can extradite but only if the death penalty option is removed from any prosecution.

  32. Ken says:

I recall the video you describe Dawn and my thought was how sensitive little Caylee was to know Grandpa was in ill health. To me it meant she had the presence of mind to just hold poor old Grandpa and enjoy his presence even if all he could do was sit there. I hadnt thought about your viewpoint but it also makes sense. I also doubt Casey held her much and the warmth of grandpa probably felt pretty good for a little girl needing warmth and affection. Either way its a sat testimonial to her mothers lack of emotion. Little Caylee shows the ability to feel for others while mother can’t feel for others. I almost wish Caylee was kidnapped. Anyone else could care for Caylee better than her mom.

  33. Dawn says:

You’re right Ken – I didn’t think about that aspect of Caylee’s feelings. How sweet and lovable she was. And I agree, I wish she had been kidnapped too – maybe she could have had the life she deserved by someone who was desperate to love a child.

  34. Diane says:

Will casey have to take the stand on her current charges or can she still refuse to testify? If that’s so, then i think it’s best they wait until after her current case has gone to trial.

  35. Ken says:

Casey wonht have to testify and will likely plea bargain or plead guilty to the charges and hope for reduced sentence as first offender. too much evidence against her with video surveilance and her own signatures on checks. Ive handled simmilar check cases and my suspects got a year max and most were out in thirty days due to over crowded jails.

  36. Sues says:

Is it my imagination, on some of those photos of Casey holding Caylee looks like ” MOMMY DEAREST ” is gritting her teeth instead of smiling ?

  37. Kim says:

Dawn, The video of little Caylee on her g. grandpa’s lap breaks my heart. The way he looks at the camera and at Caylee looks almost like he knows something is wrong or something bad is happening to her.

Ken, I read the search teams are coming back and Padilla is very confident Caylee will be found very soon, maybe this week. If they find her will they be able to tell how she died?

If she died from the Chloroform could forensics tell if Casey had been drugging her for weeks? Even if she used Zanax, how long would those drugs remain in her body or would they?

I also read that some people are comparing the Duckett case to this one and Casey wanted out to kill herself. Do you think they will let her go “search” and do you think she will try to kill herself? Would she try to move Caylee again?

With your experience I am curious what you think is going to happen.

Hopefully she will get life with no parole, her new roomies in prison will probably execute her. Then again with our judicial system they will probably keep her secluded so she is safe, which we all know she doesn’t deserve, she didn’t keep Caylee safe.

One more thing, where is the extended family? Besides the g. grandparents? Is this family so wacked out their own family doesn’t want to be involved with them?

  39. Ken says:

    Kim,

Padilla has made all kinds of “guesses” as to where Caylee is and one of them is bound to be right eventually. At least he is flexible and goes with info as it is discovered. He actually is just thinking along the same lines as all of us and the police as the evidence is uncovered. I’m hoping by keeping the search alive, that Caylee’s remains will be found and then the case will really start.

As far as chemicals in the body being discovered, there are so many factors. There would likely have to be tissues, perhaps hair and some organs left on the corpse to hope to get any trace elements. By this time however, the body is likely reduced to skeletal remains in the warm, humid, bug infested Florida climate. The body is still key though in many ways and one of the strongest supports to the chloroform samples found. You put the computer searches, for missing children, searches for Chloroform, along with Chloroform, human decomposition and DNA in Casey’s trunk next to the recovered body and you have a strong case of possible intentional and or negligent homicide with the alternative of Manslaughter. Couple the videos of her buying all that merchandise with stolen checks that didn’t include one baby item and you have a case DA’s everywhere would likely love to take to a jury.

Would Casey kill herself? Not at this juncture. She might try to fake her death, leaving a note and clothes on the beach perhaps, but she values her freedom too much at this point. Perhaps seeing herself locked up for a long period, other than fewer than ten years and she sees her beauty slipping away, the fun years of her life being stolen and she might just commit suicide out of frustration and anger over her own loss of freedom, but never over guilt. I think she could do ten years standing on her head and walk out laughing at the world and proudly proclaim “leave me alone, I paid for my crime”. She’s a sociopath.

Life in prison isn’t too likely based on evidence at hand. She could even walk that way most juries seem to have at least 2 nervous nellies or those who refuse to listen to or believe any evidence presented as to guilt. OJ got off didn’t he and that was one of the strongest evidence cases ever presented to a jury. Would prisoners kill her? that’s always hinted at based on criminals claim of hatred for those who harm children but it’s hard to say. Her nasty attitude might get her killed first though her ability to be a chameleon will also be a benefit. After all she’s a great liar and it might get her through her prison stay.

I am actually pleased that her attorney seems so inexperienced. He has made several rookie errors in his demands of evidence, prior to charges being filed so its likely he in over his head. With all the publicity, you might find other high level attorneys flocking to offer services though since the publicity will be great for them and book rights etc could be worth a fortune worth working the case pro bono.

Extended family is a good question. My own thoughts ran to the actual father and grandparents of Caylee. I still believe Casey and her parents have lied about Coyle’s biological father because Casey’s parents didn’t want to ever risk losing Caylee in a custody battle of either a father or paternal grandparents that might show up. It was easier to claim the father died, end of story. They’ve lied on so many fronts it seems very likely Caylee’s actual parentage is also a crafted lie.

Nancy’s show hints a grand jury might be hearing the case by Tuesday so perhaps we are moving towards formal charges soon. A big sigh of relief will be heard across the country but if she gets off there will be a public outcry bigger than Simpsons and then her life might really be at risk. Lets see how it goes.

  40. Carol says:

I am a confused regarding the timeline that Leonard Padilla mentioned last nite on NG, for June 27th. LP said: (this is directly from the transcript)
“The car was actually spotted parked at the Amscot by Mrs. Sanchez (ph), the manager of the store there, on the morning of the 27. We believe and we are pretty sure we know that she came back out of Tony`s house around 10:00 o`clock that morning, drove the car off to her mom`s, called J.C. Penney, then went on further towards the airport, where — my associate, Rob Dick, has narrowed down an area by the airport where he believes the body will be found. And Tim from Equusearch is headed out there in the morning. And I`m telling you, I`m putting my money on Tim finding that body before Tuesday.”

What am I missing? We know the car was at Amscot at 7am.(we don’t know exactly what time it was dropped off) I thought she called Tony to pick her up at Amscot somewhere around 11am to 1pm.How did she get back to Amscot from Tony’s at 10am. (Did Tony neglect to say he picked her up twice that day?) Then did she take the car back to Amscot and call Tony again? I am totally confused????
    Carol

  41. Kim says:

Carol, I missed Nancy Grace the last couple of nights, but I did look back through the records on her site and you have a good point. Padilla must be confused to. However looking for that information I found this, I don’t remember ever seeing it but it would explain a lot. July 7 – Casey allegedly posts a message* on her MySpace blog. The message, titled “Diary of Days,” read:

“On the worst of worst days, remember the words spoken
    Trust no one, only yourself.
With great power, comes great consequence.
What is given can be taken away.
    Everyone Lies.
    Everyone Dies.”

Also, did you know she set up a myspace account with the name cayleeismissing, she did this TWO YEARS BEFORE Caylee went missing. Read here: (lots of info on this site that I had not read before actual copies of everything) http://www.docstoc.com/docs/1449877/Deleted-myspace-comments-left-by-Casey-Anthony

  42. Kim says:

MSN News just reported they are charging Casey with Murder!!!!!

Also Channel 9 Orlando News reported Lee Anthony refused the DNA test AND refused to take a polygraph test. What is he hiding? Is he Caylee’s dad? OMG, that is awful to say. What is he hiding? From the article– Channel 9 Orlando News: George and Cindy Anthony voluntarily gave up DNA samples this week so investigators could scientifically exclude either of them as the source of the hair and stain in Casey’s trunk, but investigators had to get a search warrant to get Casey’s brother Lee to submit to a DNA test. He also has refused to take a lie detector test for the FBI.

Very strange. Also on the same site they are saying that Casey borrowed the shovel to pick up Caylees little body and LE is sure the body had been in the playhouse and in the garage.

I wonder if Cindy still thinks Caylee is in Mexico??

  43. Ken says:

Lee knows the truth and likely has been covering up for Casey since she was first jailed and perhaps even before. I have suspected all along that Casey owns him and that perhaps he is just as controlling and manipulating of his parents as Casey and thus likely to help Casey with her cover up at all costs. This family is so dysfunctional and Casey is just the symptom of what has gone on in the family dynamics for many years. Lee is likely just smarter than Casey and has learned to be less overt with his actions. I find it interesting that there is absolutely nothing available on Lee’s background, either good or bad. We know nothing about him, whether he is prone to lying also, what skeletons he might have in his own closet etc. Based on Casey’s current sexual promiscuity, perhaps she was involved in sex play with her brother or other men at an early age. Perhaps such play would account for her owning his loyalty for fear of exposure. Lots of things could be behind his loyalty but you can just about bet it’s something she has on him vs. just normal brother sister relationship. At some point all will come out because at some point, Casey will throw everyone under the bus to save herself or mitigate any responsibility she might have in Caylee’s death. As long as brother supports her, any secrets she has about him are safe. What if Lee helped her get the chloroform? Hmmm, then you have an acomplice. Im sure police are quietly investigating all such aspects including Lee’s closet skeletons, if any, and will pursue any possible avenue to get to the bottom of this case. The can of worms will unravel and all the evidence police have withheld from the public will out soon. Based on the evidence shown to the public to date, most DA’s would hesitate to file Murder 1 charges. I’m sure they have even more solid evidence.

A real question now, is whether Casey will get bailed out after the homicide charges are filed and she is re-arrested after the Grand Jury meets Tue. I still think she is a great flight risk. I would prefer to see her locked up since I think that situation allows for more pressure on her in the long run. Watching TV daily just provides her with more stories and defense strategies as the media and public offer all manner of explanations for her actions and motives in this case. She is a quick study. She would never testify in the Grand Jury process because it is under oath and all her statements, true or false could be used in court. She will never testify in court either because of her track record for lying and her obvious arrogance and disdain that would likely come out that would alienate her with jurors. The tape recorded calls will help do that for the prosecution anyway though.

BTW I doubt Casey would have the strength to pick up Caylee’s body with the shovel. Try picking up a twenty or thirty pound dead weight garbage bag with a shovel and you see the problem. It was likely just taken along to be used for hole digging if needed.

Cindy has suffered some kind of breakdown and dissociative event at this point. She is living in another world. While I believe she deliberately started covering for Casey, soon after evidence began to mount, recent videos of her show her looking and sounding almost pathetic and delusional at this point.

Ps. As far as the myspace URL from two years ago. I am a classic example of how that could be explained since I signed up for my own page a few years ago and never set up my profile etc so I could change everything now and it would point to set up a few years ago but really be recent data on an old unused page.

  44. michelle says:

i agree with alot of the statements here, but the whole bottom line is. caylee is not here, i dont for once believe about the babysitter, i do believe casey parents are covering up something and now they are scarred of some charges might be filed against them so now they will appear in court against thier so called daughter, who is a very selfish person, she is not insane or sick, she needs to be punished in the hardest way as anyone who has helped her. im a mother and a grandmother and by chance one of my daughters would of done something like this, i feel i brought them in to this world and i would take them out. the hurt alone would cause me to snap, i wouldnt think to protect my daughter they would have anything and everything comig to them. dont get me wrong i love my daughters unconditionally, but when they are wrong they are wrong. i didnt raise them to think of themselves only. life is full of joy, a baby is a new generation, as well as a gift and angel from GOD. and remember everyone GOD DONT LIKE ULGY. my heart goes out to caylee, such a angel face.

  45. debi says:

I am ticked off that so many people are saying that nurses can get chloroform. That is a bunch of crap. So is all the talk about young mothers being irresponsible. I have known mothers who were in high school and turned out to be responsible and hard working and put their kids first. I’m a nurse and was pregnant at 19-got married, lost the baby, and had 4 other children later. I am horrified at the women who leave their kids with people they don’t really know, even the boyfriends and babies’ fathers, who wind up shaking or doing worse to the kids. This case is really over the top. Casey seems incapable of going without a man in her life for any amount of time. Someone should have called the law on her long ago for stealing.

  46. Justin says:

Debi – Chloroform can be purchased on the internet. Sad but true. I’m disgusted by this young woman’s actions. Even when “crying” outside the courthouse with her lawyer, there was no terars what-so-ever. Every word out of Casey’s mouth is a lie. My question is to anyone who can answer.

Cindy Anthony was taking Casey out to an overpass who allowed her to transfer to a gray SUV, now can the parties of the Gray SUV and Cindy Anthony be charged for trying to aide Casey in escaping her fate?

I agree with everyone here! This poor sweet child is gone from our world. The only victim in this whole thing is this poor deceased tot.

My prayers are with the people whom suffered the loss of this child, and all the wrong doings this pathetic 22 year old “Little Snot head”.

  47. Eliza says:

I have updated this and talked about the “escape” or almost one. I am wondering myself if they will get charged for trying to help her. I do believe they should be, knowing she would be arrested and switching vehicles.

  48. Dawn says:

TOUCHEE TO JUSTIN – I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU 100%. I’M AM SO ESCTATIC TODAY THAT SHE WAS FINALLY INDICTED. AMEN, AMEN AND AMEN AGAIN. LET ALL THE PARTIES INVOLVED GET WHAT THEY DERSERVE.

  49. Ken says:

I doubt there will be any escape charges but do suspect that Casey was likely trying to find a way to get off by herself and escape. Knowing her past manipulation of me, I wouldn’t doubt that she has been flirting with the body guards hoping to get them on her side or to be able to con them into helping her get away or at least “help her get some private time or private search time” in which she could somehow escape from them. The overpass switch was planned but likely they will just say it was for her personal safety. Unless the body guard or Cindy admitted to something its not likely police could charge them. The good thing is police had her under surveillance and they made the stop before anything like an escape could develop.

I noticed she kept rubbing her eyes and squeezing out tears at the last interview. Once she got a tear it seemed she rubbed under the eye to keep getting single tears. Anyone else would have had tears just streaming down their face in such a situation. Heck she could have rubbed garlic on her finger or under her eyes to make them tear also to get a more sympathetic look from the prospective jury pool out there in TV land.

If you had the death sentence hanging over you, wouldn’t you immediately give up any information related to where you kidnapped daughter might be? Sure you would. This whole kidnapped story doesn’t hold water. BTW if she tries to enter a plea on the lesser charge of manslaughter, I’m sure the DA wont accept it without a body so now shes between a rock and a hard place. The pressure is really on now. She cant hide in her parents home or attorney office watching TV. She is in isolation thinking about needles in her arm and just might finally be forced to come up with Caylee’s body to avoid the chance of a murder one conviction.

Any new defense lawyer will try to dispute the Tenn. Dead body air samples as too new a technology to be trusted in court but now the science of DNA and other such evidence is more readily accepted by courts and juries. If that evidence is tossed. Casey could walk or you might find the DA more willing to deal on lesser charge without a body. Hopefully whatever happens, the truth will come out and little Caylee just might have a proper burial. Its still possible that Casey will take that secret to her grave and risk the court trial vs having to admit the biggest lie of her life, that she killed Caylee with the overdose of Chloroform while putting her to sleep in the trunk instead of leaving her with grandparents, a friend or a babysitter while she went shopping or bar hopping. Now we sit back and watch and see what else comes out. It will be more and more interesting.

  50. Justin says:

I have certian things I would like to point out without insulting anyone upon this website.

I really think she’ll take that child’s death to her grave. She’s a self righteous sociopath. I stand corrected about the crying. She’s cried openly twice, and it wasn’t to do with losing her child, it was losing her personal little party time.

I am so having a terrible time trying to type out something. I have so much to say and not certian where to start. Due to me being in Canada, most Canadians don’t believe in the death penalty, personally I believe in the Death penalty, instead of wasting tax payers money keeping a murderer fed and clothed and warm in jail.

In closing, I believe all Casey Anthony is sociopath baby killer. and the Anthony family her enablers. I also think, Casey is so used to being the centre of attention, and when a cute little girl gets that attention, jealousy forms. I pray for the finding of little Caylee. I hope all hearts that are broken are mended with time.
