Has anyone been watching updates on the Casey Anthony case? I only have a minute left but I read there have been charges made finally. So maybe we’ll hear more about this soon. I do know there have been protests in and around her family home and her grandfather got a bit out of hand the other day, can’t really blame him though, he’s so broken hearted. I’ll update more when I can here is a link: http://www.myfoxorlando.com/myfox/pages/News/Detail?contentId=7409128&version=7&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=3.2.1

Ken,
What do you think about the new evidence, the fluid on the plastic bag found in the the trunk of her car? Will there be enough DNA to prove it is Caylee? What in the world was the forensic dr. on Nancy Grace last night talking about blow fly’s? That lost me. Or is that just a normal fly?
I HAVE BEEN SO SUCKED INTO THIS FROM THE BEGINNING …I AM PLEASED AT THE WAY THINGS ARE GOING NOW SHE IS WHERE SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALL ALONG ….I WAS THINKING MAYBE HER AND HER LAWYER ARE AN ITEM NOW AND I WAS WONDERING IF THEY HAVE TESTED THE DNA OF THE BROTHER TO CAYLEE ???? INTERESTING CONCEPT ..HE ACTS LIKE HE IS KIDING SOMETHING??
Ken,
I haven’t seen a comment from you on the question about the fluid on the pastic bag. Do you have any insight on this? Have you heard anything about a date for the trial? I know everyone is as anxious as I am – let me know your latest findings and views. I respect them alot.
Thanks, Dawn
Dawn, It seems the bag would give authorities a plethora of potential evidence. The Bag itself, may be matched to bags from the Anthony residence, fingerprints may be developed on the bag along with fiber, dirt, hair and other samples that could all be linked back to Casey and Caylee. If another person did assist Casey, perhaps their prints or DNA could be found on the bag exterior or interior also. Bodily fluids can include DNA and perhaps also give more support to information gathered from the air samples. This is important because the air sampling technology is considered new and will most assuredly be challenged by any defense team, though DNA was new at one time also. Juries are more informed now and have come to expect CSI type technology vs. rejecting it as back in the OJ trial.
Actually jurors have come to expect too much from the CSI factor since many things shown on TV are exaggerated. I doubt authorities will release very much info about the bag residue so they have more than one ace in their hand as a strong rebuttal to any defense attempt to dismiss the air sampling evidence. It seems stupid of Casey to not have disposed of that bag but when you consider that she was eager to get on with her life and put Caylee behind her, perhaps it just slipped her mind. Mounting evidence seems the only thing that might get Casey to seek a plea bargain at some point and give up on her attempt to continue her holdout of information. A plea bargain won’t likely be accepted without her providing the location of Caylee’s remains.
The Defense didn’t request a speedy trial because they also need time to examine the volumes of reports and evidence that has been amassed by the prosecution. This will give the prosecution more time to prepare its case properly and that bodes ill for Casey. I’m guessing that a trial wouldn’t take place for six months to a year which is about normal in many homicide cases. I think the prosecution is more ready to go thanks to their careful investigation and documentation of evidence than the defense so we can likely expect lots of delays requested by the defense team vs. all the bluster they expressed before when suggesting a speedy trial. Delays give more time to find a body and other related evidence. It will work more in favor for the prosecution than the defense team. Now we wait. Ken
Dawn, I am also waiting for Ken’s answer. It is nice to have his forensic expertise to help with any confusion. I also look forward to his opinion on this tragedy. I am still wondering about the “blow flies” did you know what they were referring to? I could look it up on the web, but fear a really gross photo opening… eww….I would pass out if a photo of a dead body with flies on it opened…
Ken,
I was watching something on Discovery and they were talking about blow flies that were used to determine how long a woman had been dead. I still would like to know what they are, on tv it looked like worms, like maggots but larger. ??
Ken,
There was mention on NG, by I believe LP that there were some bodily fluids, or substances on the outside of the bag along with maggots. I am sure the forensics and entymologists are checking this out for the type of insects
bowflies, beetles, etc. that are attracted by human decomposition.
They “officially” are certainly not going to release this info along with the additional specifics of whatever DNA they may have. We do know that the
hair does have the dark banding on it.
“BLOWFLIES” ARE THOSE NASTY LOOKING HUGE GREENISH BLACK BUGS . THEY ALSO MAKE A LOUD HUMMING NOISE . YOU WILL SEE THEM HANGING/FLYING AROUND ANYTHING DEAD OR WHERE THEIR LEFTOVERS HAVE BEEN
FYI some Blowfly info
Forensic entomology in homicide investigations
Certain species of flies are strongly attracted to the odor of decomposing human and animal tissue. In a typical case fly eggs are laid on a dead body and the resulting larvae, or maggots, utilize and further breakdown the dead tissue. The sequence of events from egg deposition to complete fly development is temperature dependent and highly predictable for a given geographical area.
A forensic entomologist uses the evidence of this developmental sequence to work backward to deduce the time since death, or post-mortem interval. This is the essence of forensic entomology — using the developmental sequence of insects, usually flies, to deduce when death occurred and hence who might be responsible
Blow flies
In the insects that undergo complete development, the larval stages appear quite different from the adult form. The larvae of flies (order Diptera) that are commonly recovered from decomposing human remains lack functional legs, and the body of many species appears cream colour, soft-bodied, and quite “maggot-like”. For a picture of some of the maggots commonly found on human cadavers Once the larva or “maggot” is through feeding it will migrate away from the corpse in order to find a suitable site to form the pupal stage. The pupae of blow flies are often overlooked, as they closely resemble rat droppings or the egg case of cockroaches. The pupal stage is an extremely important stage to the forensic entomologist and a thorough search should be made for the presence of pupae at any death scene. If the adult insect has not emerged, the pupa will appear featureless and rounded on both ends. For a picture of an unmerged blow fly pupa If the adult insect has emerged, one end will appear as if it has been cut off, and the hollow interior will be revealed. For a picture of an adult emerging from the puparium Most adult blow flies appear a metallic green or blue and are easily recognizable.
Ken
Ken ,Thank you so much for your info that is given to all of us that have been following this mess since day one about that Casey . Our main concern is someone finding little Caylee and having closure for that sweet baby girl ! Casey on the other hand, that thing isn’t worth a hill of beans !!!!!!!!!! She will get her ” just reward ” !!!!!!!
My pleasure Sues. Closure is all that’s left for the Grandparents now and all of us too. As a father of four kids, I would be glad now to just know little Caylee had a final resting place in a family plot than some swamp hole in the ground. If that were accomplished I could deal with a jury coming back with not guilty, like OJ, knowing full well Karma would take care of the rest of Casey’s life. Look how OJs life changed forever. He’s been forced to surround himself with all manner of low life criminals, drug addicts and thieves. A far cry from his former super star days and of course it led him down the road to where he is now, back in jail perhaps about to find the bottom of the pit finally as his deeds and lifestyle catch up with him.
Casey would find her life affected the same way. Even if she is a sociopath, with no guilt or remorse, she has been outed and her reputation will follow her always as a liar, perhaps murderer etc and her circle of quality friends and family will be forever changed to those on the fringe. You and I know that will be a living hell for her since she loves glamour and attention. If she gets off, she would likely end up with a short period of fame or a book and a few talk show experiences, but her next stops would likely lead to a downward spiral to end up in some seedy motel room or alley with a needle in her arm. “Goes around, comes around” is my motto but some just call it Karma. I’ve seen criminals walk free before but they are never free of themselves and in some way, some day, they will pay and I can accept that. Let’s hope that Caylee is found and that a jury doesn’t rely on Karma to provide Casey with her final justice. Ken
I hope whatever is served to Casey, either it be Karma or justice, or a bit of both. I’m totally at a loss, A sweet baby girl lost and not found and such delusional b!tch got all this “attention”. I sincerely hope, they throw her in prison and forget all about her. or give her death for her ignorance and crimes against her own blood. And to further note, I guess that “cat switch” was to throw off the media, I really doubt it, but thats the story they’re sticking too. I wonder if these people ever heard the story “Peter and the Wolf”. How can we believe anything they say? I really believe it was a plotted escape, and Casey, Her mother, and these other people were just caught. So boil up another lie, trying to elude the media.
I hope truly that little girl is found, Cause to me, this is some bad dream or worse, a B-movie.
Thank you Ken for your expertise on this! Its greatly appreciated, perhaps they need somone out there with your logic and know-how.
Hi Ken,
Once again, thanks for all your expertise in this matter. It’s comforting being able to discuss these horrific circumstances with someone of your professionalism and wealth of knowledge. I’m sure you are a good insight to all of us emotionally involved in this case. Keep talking.
Thanks, Dawn
car switch ^ heh sorry… in a hurry.. damned typos!
I agree that the car switch might have been part of an attempt to get casey a few mintutes to try and escape but of course the cops were following. I figured they would have 24/7 coverage of her movements and it paid off.
As far as someone like me working on the case, they have them and then some. All CSIs with any experience are very capable, dedicated investigators who take these cases personally and always have a goal of doing everything they can to make sure the criminal doesn’t get away with a crime. In this case, there are Sheriff, Police, FBI etc all involved and a lot of careful, logical, experienced minds will likely be able to get the goods on Casey. She may have thought up the story and figured she was smart but they are much smarter and will win in the end. Ken
I thought the car switch was supposedly because Cindy thought someone was following them and trying to run them off the road or something. Or so she claimed. The other vehicle turned out to be the bondsman. I am intrigued about the info I read last night that was new to me-about the green truck at Lee’s house that Casey is said to have used several times. And the new info on the eyewitness at the area near the airport.
The newer forensic method of playing the tapes of the defendant’s testimony backwards is really kind of spooky! It was also revealing when applied to what Casey has been saying all along. I saw a video of that last week and it really struck me as unusual and cutting edge.
Debi,
Please explain what you mean about playing the tapes backwards. I didn’t hear anything about that and I’m curious to know what it’s all about.
Thanks, Dawn
Cindy is about as big a liar as Casey at this point. It doesn’t matter thought and no charges will be brought unless the bondsman fesses up. I question his motives or involvement with Casey especially since it was a “bondsman that contributed fifty dollars to her Jail commissary account” I always expected her to flirt with any male she figures can help her. It’s just her nature.
I hadn’t recalled any info about a green truck Casey had access to. Where did you see that? Of course she might have used that truck to avoid the smell in her trunk. If she transported a body in it, there would likely be some residual evidence. It was the car backed up to the garage suspiciously.
I am sure the main search now will cover the area where the new witness has claimed to see Casey and the unidentified male (likely Lee) but what bothered me about his description of the events was Casey having difficulty loading the “obviously heavy bag” back into the trunk. It could be she was there but opted out of the location as a burial site. It seems the male assistant, if it was Casey and a male, would be the one carrying any heavy bag otherwise why tag along? Its all very interesting and likely we will get a bit more info soon.
BTW I have to mention that those CSI’s are likely very personally involved and have been from the first piece of evidence they collected. I can recall every victim I ever dealt with. Their faces and crime details are imbedded in my memories and sometimes dreams. Innocent victims, especially children strike the heart cord of every CSI and officers too. All the more reason for Casey to be nervous as they do all they can to lock up this case. CSI’s are not emotionless robots and all have families of their own. They feel guilty going home to them knowing justice hasn’t yet been served until the cases are resolved. Their motivation to work twenty plus hour endless days doing the thankless detail work and investigations involved are fueled by their connection to the victim that is developed early in each case. Ken
The only Green Truck I am aware of is Cindy’s SUV. Casey took it the day that George followed her. He told Cindy he was going to follow Casey and Cindy tried to discourage him, according to George’s interrogation … but Cindy being Cindy denies any knowledge of this.
I think I saw the info and listened to those “backwards” tapes on the Nancy Grace website. There were photos online showing a green truck in Lee’s driveway and info that a neighbor of his saw it there and I think also said that he saw Casey driving it.
Does anyone think there was an accident? So many people interviewed on Nancy Grace, said that Casey was a good mother and would never intentionally harm Caylee. I don’t understand why she would risk Caylee’s death by using choloroform to sedate her. If she wanted to party unencumbered by a child, she couldl have left Caylee at home with her parents. No?
well its 10-27-08. Any more news on Casey and charges brought against her. I live in Wisconsin and have a little 4 year old, and can’t imagine life without him. I think Casey is another Scott Peterson…..Only caring about themselves. How do people become this. How were they raised?
I love my son and tell him everyday. I pray all her pain is gone and she is safe in heaven.

LuLu—from what we have learned, Cindy caught Casey lying about her job the weekend of Father’s Day, and that plus the money she was busted taking from her grandparents, Cindy’s folks, started a huge argument, and Supposedly Cindy refused to babysit anymore so Caylee could run around instead of working. She had also been advised by a therapist to kick Casey out. Plus, from what has been said, both george and Cindy were still working themselves, not certain what shift(s) Cindy was, but George around that time was on PM shift.
Michelle Desbold is the handwriting analyst.
Correction: Dresbold.
Thanks Eliza….I watched alittle bit of it last night on Nancy Grace……Casey will never admit she did it. People like tell themselves over adn over they are innocent until they actually believe it. 15 years from now she will be interviewed on Dateline or some show still proclaiming she didn’t do it.
She has no emotions about her daughter being missing thats how you know she’s guilty.
It’s going to be much better for the State’s case, if they turn up the body. The forensic evidence in the car will be disputed by SMEs giving testimony for the Defense. Reasonable doubt, etc. Right now, there’s concern about the search process, the protocol followed, who’s moving around in the search area, protection of evidence, evidentiary custody, etc. There’s got to be careful oversight, and control. Rumor control, etc.
SHE IS A COLD HEARTED EVIL PERSON!!! SHE KILLED HER DAUGHTER I HAVE GRANBABIES AND I WOULD DIE FOR THEM!! CASEY IS A LIAR AND THAT’S WHY SHE HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH MURDER TODAY!! I ONLY WISH THAT THEY WOULD PUT HER IN A TRUNK AND DIG A HOLE AN PUT HER IN HIT TO DIE!! HOW COULD YOU KILL YOUR CHILD WHEN THERE ARE PLENTY OF PEOPLE WHO WOULD HAVE TAKEN HER!! SHE WANT’S ALL THE BOOK DEAL’S MOVIE DEAL’S I HOPE THEY SEND HER TO PRISON AND SHE CAN BE SOMEONE’S BITCH!! AND GET BEAT EVERYDAY!!!
my question is how does she afford a nanny?? i mean if she dont work and the economy is in the mess it is in its hard for me to afford daycare and i work full time and have a huband with a full time job!!!!!!!!!
Sarah, there is no nanny.remember when someone who was at Ricardo’s house asked her what she paid her nanny because the person was doing babysitting while going to college and thought she was being underpaid, Casey wouldn’t answer directly-she just said she paid her nanny enough or plenty, or something like that. There are, however, day care providers who are paid by the county or other departments so the moms can attend job training or go to school. Maybe Zani is one of Casey’s multiple personalities. LOL
I found some info on the green truck in the Anthony’s neighbor’s statement to police. I think his name is Bryan. The guy casey borrowed the shovel from. he said he saw her and a male he didn’t know who has brown hair at the house with a green truck like a Ford Ranger ,for a short time about June 23rd. He has also stated that he saw her backing her car into the garage there on at least 2 occasions, not just once, and also this truck was backed in.He thought she was moving out.
O.K. I REALLY DON’T GET IT. I JUST READ ON CNN THAT SOMEONE (??????) FROM CALIFORNIA DEPOSITED ANOTHER $75.00 INTO CASEY’S ACCOUNT. WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE? THIS GIRL IS A COLD BLOODED MURDERER WITH NO REMORSE AND PEOPLE ARE SENDING HER MONEY SO SHE CAN BUY THINGS AT THE JAIL COMMISSARY. C’MON PEOPLE~~~!!!!!!!!
Ken –
I visit this site often in the hopes of reading your opinions regarding this case. I couldn’t help but notice in your Oct. 15th posting that you mentioned something about ,” Casey’s past manipulation of me”. Do you know her?
I have been searching around for a list or record of her web searches, specifically inre; escort services. The only thing that I have come across is still screen from Nancy Grace displaying the shows list. Does anyone know of any released documents regarding these web searches? I suspect that crazy Casey working as an escort and that whoever she worked for was probably keeping an eye on Caylee while Casey turned tricks. If this is true, then the defense would have some shady people to bring into the picture to fill in the missing nanny slot. The type of people who may rely upon an alias like the non existant Zaneida Gonzales for example. I bring this up because I’ve been trying to keep track of the bits of info that appear, and seem pertinent to the case, or characteristic of Casey’s habitually deceptive behaviour , then, disappear. Perhaps these items ( her interest in prostitution, the green truck, Casey’s apparent scorn over Tony & Jesse texting each other to chat about Casey-I’d love to see those texts!, etc) are quietly removed from media scrutiny in deference to the prosecutions case. I am very interested in what the defense will be because I don’t think I could stand to see this boring skank get away with literally disposing of her child. My worst case scenario for this whole mess is that Casey goes free, and her & her creepy family become reality television celebs. Wierder things have happened! I realy would not be shocked to find out that Casey has management allready lol.
sorry Valerie, my typo. the line Casey’s past manipulation of me needed to read manipulation of men not me. Gotta run for now, will respond more later. Ken
@Dawn I don’t understand it myself. I read they were basically giving her the benefit of the doubt. Not me, glad to know I’m not the only one.
@Ken thank you for always dropping by and leaving your comments. I can tell it isn’t just me that enjoys them.
Hi all. I had a thought about the escort stuff. It has been reported that Casey liked to watch porn on the computer. A lot of those websites claim to be escort services, phone dating, or similar in order to get around being actually porn. Or maybe just looking for tips . LOL.
I enjoy reading Ken’s posts as well.
Escort services easy cash.
Hi all, sorry I haven’t been on the PC much this last week other than to follow the election news since it seems another crime is being committed by the liberal media there.
When I heard about Casey’s escort service searches, I surmised that she was looking for extra cash since she had no job and did have expensive tastes in clothing etc. I read Debi’s post and decided to do an escort service search myself. I searched Florida escort services and came up with pages of links to sites. I entered three and you immediately find photos of lingerie clad women whose average age is 23. I didn’t get any porn pop ups but I guess there likely would be more nudity etc if you registered at the site. Likely just basic client nudity since sites might need to be careful about state porn laws. What I did find on three sites was a RATE listing that averaged
$800 1 hour
$2200 3 hrs
$ unk rates for all night that invited inquiry by the client.
That’s some quick money, non taxable most likely and with Casey’s promiscuous nature and ability to slip into bed with a variety of men at the same time
Would fit into her need for cash with benefits. Based on what I found, I still lean towards her looking at ways to make quick money vs. just satisfying a porn urge. I did note that the women’s photos did show a variety of expensive lingerie and dresses so that would still be an option for Casey’s viewing, looking for hot clothes to impress guys.
We may never know if she actually participated since clients in that field would never identify themselves and the businesses involved would have to incriminate themselves to admit the type of work she did. It’s an anonymous world likely full of prospective witnesses against Casey. Just one such witness could place her working perhaps when there was no known babysitter for Caylee. On the other hand, the DA has lots already who have provided lots of statements detailing Casey’s conflicting statements about where Caylee was when they dated etc. All those statements will enter a timeline and be powerful evidence against her when all is said and done.
I am sure there are even more witnesses that will be brought forward when it comes time for trial. The defense will be hard pressed to deal with them all and will try to discredit or downplay each of their statements. I am guessing that the total impact of all Casey’s lying and complicated stories that kept police at bay till now will come back to haunt her at trial time and perhaps swing a jury to look at the actual evidence even closer.
Having participated in many, many trials and major cases, I do know its still always a crap shoot, no matter how good the evidence towards guilt. Watch court TV (now TRU TV) and you always see an 80 percent guilty and 20 percent innocent vote when polls of audience members are taken during the trials. That translates to about two or three potential jurors on any twelve person panel that will vote for acquittal in obvious guilt cases and despite overwhelming evidence. They just won’t get it or refuse to follow the evidence for personal reasons, hidden bias or just plain naivety. Frankly I’m surprised any jury can get a conviction with the average jury panel makeup and often, in the cases of OJ, Phil Spector etc, criminals walk free thanks to those same jurors. This case presents a similar problem for prosecutors since there isn’t a body (yet) and many would be loath to convict without it. Hopefully it all works out and justice is served.
Movie titles Casey rented
I have forgotten the titles of the “horror movies” rented by Casey and her boyfriend at Blockbuster. I wanted to look up the movies and get more info about their content. Im betting the police have already done that also and if any plot themes or story lines and script lines match any of Casey’s stories we will also see that brought out in court. Info anyone?
Here is the link: http://www.wftv.com/news/17841326/detail.html?rss=orlc&psp=news#-
The movies are: “Jumper”, about a mom abandoning her 5 year old who then can teleport himself, and “Untraceable”, about a kidnapper/killer.
Ken- I just read that one of the movies that was rented has scenes of a rotting body in a car trunk. Eerie.
Doesn’t the prosecution have to provide the defense with a list of all of their witnesses? I’ve seen many different timelines and character lists for this case. I;m sure that the defense has , too. Sometimes I worry that all of the curiousity that us bloggers have for this case may work towards helping Casey build her alibi. With so many peoplke analyzing her every move , and trrying to fill in the blank times, wondering what she was doing, and when perhaps we are inadvertantly assisting Casey? That’s a scary thought.
I’m with you , Ken , about the fast cash in escorting, and that it’s very doubtful that people involved in that world are secretive, making it difficult to find out if she actually was involved in that sort of thing , or not. I only bring it up because I think that the possibility of Casey being involved in the shadier end of the sex industry woulkd really clear up why Casey is so inconsistent & secretive. I found a blog written by an escort and this girl actually wrote a post ( before the web searches reg. casey/ escort services came out) stating that she thinks that Casey’s behaviour is exactly how a girl who “dates” for a living behaves. o well, I guess we’ll know well enough when the trial begins. Let’s just hope that justice prevails. The sad fact is that there is more money, fame, etc. to be had for all involved – that includes the various forms of media exploiers, as well – if Casey goes free…and ,sadly, justice & money just don’t travel in the same circles, know what I mean? Sorry to be so cynical, it’s just that in this particular case, all of the elements of a big time hollywood payoff are there.
I do agree Valerie that all manner of defense strategies have been made available to Casey via the media like Nancy Grace and our blogs but that was done early as Nancy and guests proposed scenarios like accidental death, drowning etc. all im sure gave Casey an alternate fail safe plan if all else fails to admit to accidental death and cover up vs murder by overdose of Chloroform. That would likely work since prosecution would be hard pressed to disprove it without a body or forensics that go with a body. While they can prove Caylee is deceased and that chloroform was in the trunk, reasonable doubt would be present if Casey admitted to accidental drowning and cover up.
If enough information comes out as to just how long chloroform can be detected in remains and it is well past that time and close to conviction. I’m guessing she will finally try to cop a plea. One thing standing in the way of that would be just how she disposed of Caylee and how her lifelong image would forever be changed vs always a little doubt as to her story about kidnapping or whatever. Anyway the ball is still in her court no matter how much information is out there. If it led to recovery of Caylee’s body, I wouldn’t be apposed to plea deal vs. risking her getting off completely by some jurors who view evidence differently or ignore it and just feel sorry for her to the point of hanging up a jury.
If Casey is found guilty of anything less than murder, she will likely be out of prison within ten years and only be thirty five. One thing that could get her a longer sentence, even on manslaughter or negligence would be the prior felony convictions on forged checks and another reason the DA is pursuing that aggressively. Priors will keep her from getting straight probation and add to her sentence. She will still be young enough to con more men and make some money with her story though I hope a civil suit will also be filed preventing that. Sadly the suit would have to be filed by her parents or brother and that isn’t likely. After all. She could get out and give them another baby as a way of making peace with them. This is a dysfunctional family and likely would accept that as long as she gave them complete control or adoption. This would be a good case for court ordered sterilization if there ever was any.
The escort jobs, if ever proven, would force her to account for even more times when Caylee was left alone for an hour or overnight. Based on her lack of funds and thefts, she probably never did follow through with escort jobs more than once or so. It was easier to screw several “boyfriends” at once or in sequence and get them to provide a roof over her head, grocery money and gas. Same thing, different payment plan with more benefits.
As far as witness lists, yes DA has to provide potential court witness lists to defense. But defense had to figure out how their statements will be used and that strategy isn’t known till trial time. The DA doesn’t have to provide a plan of attack to the defense and how the evidence will be presented or in what order so the defense had to work even harder to guess about every turn and can end up going in circles if the DA does a good job. Based on what Ive seen, if the defense cant get the car evidence tossed, they will be hard pressed to defend Casey and likely push her to plea bargain and give up Caylee’s location. The DA wont accept a plea without that I am sure.
Ken- do you think that is why her lwayer wants to delay the check fraud case until after the murder one, because that way she wouldn’t have a prior conviction? Also- I finally found the video with the “backwards” audio-here is the link:
http://www.Youtube.com/watch?v=TkvsZ5cSZCo&feature=related
Ken,
If Caylee’s bio father and family were identified would they be able to file civil suit against Casey and her family preventing them from profiting from Caylee’s death? Even if the father is dead?
And… if Caylee is located and just bones remain would there be enough DNA to identify her father or paternal family? (of course if they also had a list of possible canidates).
Lenord P. stated tonight on Nancy Grace that they are going to “drain every pond and gut every gator” to find Caylee. If she was in water and or consumed by an alligator what would that do to DNA structure, would it remain in order to identify her?
Thank you…
Kim,
If Casey’s remains can be located, even after this amount of time, it is likely viable DNA could be extracted from bones and or teeth. There is often hair to sample also, since the entire scalp sluffs off as part of the decomposition process.
I doubt there would be DNA locaed within stomach contents of any gator after this much time. With the most acidic digestive system of any vertebrate, alligators are even capable of digesting bones and feathers. However, if lakes were drained, you might find clothing remnants though a muddy lake bottom would be difficult to sift through and considering the time involved and severe weather that passed through there it seems the lake bottoms would be covered in fresh silt layers. We need to hope Caylee was buried vs. eaten by a gator for evidentiary value though either is repugnant when thinking of this little innocent child.
If the true identity of Caylee’s father could be determined, perhaps through DNA, they would surely have a right to file civil suits against both Casey and her parents. There could be perhaps one wrongful death suit against Casey and perhaps another against parents and Casey for lying about parentage and thus effectively denying contact with little Caylee. You can file suit on just about anything now days. I’ve felt all along that the father’s death was just too convenient and allowed complete control of Caylee’s life by mom and grandparents. Remember the grandparents doted on that child and wanted to raise her. If any other legitimate grandparents were involved, they would have had visitation and custody rights also. If, or when, Caylee’s remains are found and DNA is extracted, I am hoping any involved private parties may come forward to pay for private testing of the DNA for comparison. Of course Casey slept around so much, it could be about anyone with a Florida address. Wouldn’t it be interesting if the DNA matched Lee? But that is just another can of worms. All possibilities are open with this dysfunctional family.
Debi, yes the delay would help avoid a prior felony conviction. The court ruled it as most expedient likely because if convicted on the murder charge, its likely the check charges would be dropped. On the other hand, it seems the judge would also be aware of the potential for prior felonies so I am sure the DA is ticked off. This was a victory for the defense. Perhaps the judge figured it would be an appeal question since the defense needs time to work on the harder case.
Ive never put much stock in the backwards audio stuff though perhaps there can be some reasoning to support it. Our subconscious mind does many weird things and is always running. If you are telling a lie, the brain is consciously thinking of the truth. Look at a building then try to draw a picture of something completely different and likely some remnant of the actual building scene will remain in the drawing. Similarly, as has been said, in each lie told by Casey, there is a bit of truth or fact that the lie is built on. A semantics expert might have a field day with Casey’s statements building a more complete picture of what likely truthful facts could lead to exactly what happened to Caylee.
So far, the cell phone pings could by far be very strong evidence against her when Caylee’s body is found and will likely be the way authorities have zeroed in on search locations. Im guessing Casey is getting pretty nervous right now though her sociopath personality is likely weighing just how much decomposition has occurred and how much evidence can be retrieved from Caylee’s body. If she believes no evidence of how Caylee died can be determined, she will likely just deal with it calmly and go ahead with a trial vs. pleading guilty believing she has outsmarted the investigation. Look how long Scott Peterson continued his relationship with his lover, even while the search went on and memorials took place in his yard. He sat smugly in court to the end, believing there was not enough evidence against him and that he could sway jurors. He even flirted with a female juror during the trial. Im sure Casey would do the same looking as childlike and innocent as she could while smiling often at whoever she thought she could get to. One juror holdout is enough to deadlock a trial.
Debi, thanks for the movie titles.
Untraceable line from Wikipedia description
“the film involves a serial killer who rigs contraptions that kill his victims”
Jumper. I read through the entire Wikipedia description and felt it more suited her nature of role playing and wanting to be something other than what she was fit more than any role in her daughter’s death. The title might have grabbed her if it listed the description of an abandoned five year old though mostly it was just a recently released new video. I almost watched it myself.
I find it more revealing that Casey’s flirting and cuddling with her new boyfriend and likely planning a sexual evening alone and yet renting movies involving death etc. Hmmm, not my idea of a romantic evening mood setter, but then I’m not a sociopath and my daughter isn’t dying in the trunk of my car while I pick out movies and play grab ass.
if casey realy cared about her daughter she will do anything in her power to help find her. but she knows what she did and all she keeps doing is lieing her ass of! they have so MUCH evidence already even without the body…they should have charged her already! and sometimes i wonder if her parents know what she did and they just dont want to admit it because its thier daughter and they dont want to see her rot in prison. Its just SOOO ovious that she did something….from phone calls to pictures to her stupid new tatoo she got after her daughter went missing. who does that. all in all i hope they find caylee. wether she is here or not . GOD BLESS her where ever she is♥
Christine
I agree with you….I think she killed her own daughter so gain back her social life. She knows exactly what happened to Caylee. I just don’t understand how she was missing for weeks before she said anything….then she comes up with the babysitter had her (I think) all this time.
BULLSHIT……..Casey should share a cell with Scott Peterson. How does someone turn out like these two……scares me. I think she will go to jail with the evidence they have. Scott did and they only had a hair sample, he was already in jail when the bodies washed up to shore.
It doesn’t matter what we think what goes around comes around. She will have her day….
God Bless Caylee.
