977048_blue_planet.jpgPeggy and Jennifer over at TreeHuggingFamily is hosting a month long Earth Day Carnival for all of b5media and I thought it would actually fit right in with Babylune. Not many know what they can do with their little ones on Earth Day so I hope you find something here helpful. With Earth Day just around the corner many of you may be wondering how you can celebrate with your baby. Keep in mind this day is all about the Earth, so just about anything you can do with Mother Nature works great. Maybe planting a tree in your baby’s honor, he/she could even pat the dirt depending on the age.

Making a garden- You already know that your baby is going to want to play in the dirt and believe it or not it’s okay. In fact they’ll love it, while you are building scrumptious gardens full of tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers, you’re child can be making mud pies. However, depending on your child’s age you can let them make their very own garden. Start simple, something that will be easy to grow and sprout soon.

Keep in mind kids are impatient and love to see their work in action. With that being stated you might try recycling some of those baby jars or water bottles and create your child’s own see-through garden. As your baby grows into a toddler or older they’ll be able to spy the seed grow into deep roots and a lovely flower, herbs or vegetable.

You may even want to start teaching your baby/toddler/child to start recycling early. Grab some old magazines and let them have at a empty box. Tell them to decorate it and later tell them whenever they throw out trash that they can seperate it. Remember young children may not understand at such young ages, but they will catch on. Maybe put some illustrations of plastic bottles for plastics, newspapers for paper, etc.

Some of you may even decide to go all natural from here on out with your child. There are a ton of cloth diapers out there for you to choose from as well as fabrics that are eco-friendly. However you choose to celebrate Earth Day you should always make sure your child (as they grow) knows what they are celebrating.
