Cow Has Triplets

March 3, 2009 by Eliza Ferree

A cow down in St. Louis, Missouri gave birth to triplets recently. Apparently this is not a common thing and considered rare. The chances of a cow having triplets are one in 100,000, but it happens. Currently the heifers are doing well, the survival rate is very low for triplets so hopefully they’ll keep everyone updated.

These three heifers are very cute, I’ve included the video so ya’ll can view them.

For your own records here are a few that have given birth to triplets:
- Faith, an Arkansas cow had triplets in 2006 (she’d also had twins in 2003 and triplets in 2004)
- Dick Taylor’s Charlais cow had triplets in 2005
- The Black Angus Cow on a Wyoming Farm has given birth to triplets two years in a row. – A cow in Concord gave birth to triplets and began nursing all of them immediately.
