Dennis Quaid’s Settlement

January 9, 2009 by Eliza Ferree

Remember when Dennis Quaid and Kimberly’s twins were born at Cedars-Sinai and the twins were given the wrong dose almost killing them? Well the suit has finally been settled and it looks like the Quaids are going to be getting $750,000.

“It was the scariest, most frightening day that I think either of us have ever been through, to come face to face with your little kids who — so young in that kind of situation.”

For those that don’t know, the twins were given a blood thinner heparin that was 1000 times the normal limit of a newborn. The good news is the twins came out just fine but it was one of those experiences that should NEVER have happened.

I agree, it should have never happened. I remember the day my first child was born – the nurse was about to give her the Vitamin K shot and thank God she **rechecked** the vial (like they are supposed to do) before she gave it. She had grabbed POTASSIUM (chemical symbol “K”) that someone had mistakenly placed in the Vitamin K slot!!! It likely could have killed our daughter. Granted, she should have caught it before she drew up the shot – but at least she **caught it**!
