As many know, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has set up some new guidelines and it seems the first victim is Disney. Apparently some really did believe that having their baby watch a movie would make them become a genious. Currently Disney has released the following information for all those Disney Baby Einstein Video fans:

IMG: BabyEinstein
The Baby Einstein DVD Guarantee:
To participate, you must have purchased a Baby Einstein DVD between June 5, 2004 and September 4, 2009.
If you are not satisfied with the Baby Einstein DVD you purchased during the period mentioned above, for a limited time beginning on September 4, 2009 and ending on March 4, 2010, you may exchange it for one of the following:
One (1) Baby Einstein Book of your choice
One (1) Baby Einstein music CD of your choice
- Or -
One (1) coupon for 25% off the purchase of one Little Einsteins™ product. Redeemable with promotion code only at DisneyStore.com.
or you may return it, and we will refund the current retail value of the DVD ($15.99).
Click the link above if you feel you have been wronged and want the refund. My own opinion on this and no, no one is paying me. My son is 2 years old and loves these videos, yes he has learned some colors from it and a few letters but honestly he enjoys watching the shows. Are people going to sue every single company that makes children/toddler movies? What about Barney, Telletubbies, Wiggles, or the DoodleBops?
Now if you’d like to read the letter the FTC sent the Disney Baby Einstein videos you can click the Commercial Free Childhood link here. Voice your opinion in the comment section please.

What if you know you purchased some in that time period but don’t remember the exact date, is there a way to tell from the dvd?
parents who believe that a dvd will turn their child into a genius should get their heads examined…how is a dvd going to do that? these dvd’s were probably made as a learning aide… to be used in conjunction with normal, day to day social interactions and child’s play. it is up to the parents to teach their children, not a dvd. i believe that “Baby Einstein” is just a clever name to sell a dvd… i am not sure if they claim to teach your children to be geniuses, but their dvd’s are alright… my boys love to watch them and they have learned some things from them, but in the end, it is up to me as a parent to teach them and to stimulate their minds…
