Not many of us do this but I know in the celebrity world this seems like a common thing. Why? Is it a matter of who is more popular than the next? Lets take for instance the two new reality shows that are hitting the television waves. Why take your children and put them in a reality show where all types of people will watch them. Isn’t this taking away from their privacy.

Reality Shows:

It’s Complicated- Denise Richards show with her little girls in it, for the first episode I hear it was more boring than anything. But to me it sounds like she’s making a reality show in order to prove that she isn’t a “just” a celebrity’s ex-wife. Why? It’s fine for you to do it, but you are dragging your girls through it too. For the first episode you get to watch her go out on a date, my thoughts were what a way to show the ex. Is she doing this out of spite?  Normally I like Denise but I don’t agree with getting the girls on the show, even their father has tried to stop it.

Lesson 1: Remember everything you do on television your children will later view. Is this how you want your girls to remember you?

Lesson 2: If one parent doesn’t agree, find out why and see if you are viewing the situation through clear glasses or spotted.

Living Lohan- First episode was last week and we watch Celebrity mom, Dina, and how she raises her kids, Ali and Cody. I guess getting one child to rehab wasn’t enough, now she wants to try it again with her 14-year-old daughter. This is a little girl that has watched her sister be raked through the coals and seen what drugs do to her. But Living Lohan takes you into a dangerous view of what the celebrity life for kids may really be like and with a mom like Dina exploiting her kids there is no telling what may happen.

Dina starts off buy yelling at the camera crew that tabloids better not attack her youngest daughter or else.  This will only begin the fire that’s about to happen. As parents we know when you threaten someone, like a bully, they will only strike back.

Lesson 1: Don’t instigate a fight, things will only get worse.

Next scene shows Dina looking at a video of what’s suppose to be “Lindsay Lohan Sex Tape,” and Ali is leaning over to check it out.

Lesson 2: Don’t view porn or anything distasteful that children under age of 18 should be watching unless they are out of the house.

This is just the first instance, obviously they don’t mind that all of America is going to know all the details of their life. I just hope they keep those bedroom doors shut.

What’s your opinion on having your babies on a reality show? Is this exploiting them or just boosting their careers? If your child had the chance to make millions would you allow it? Why and why not?

  1. I really could care less about Denise Richards, Charlie Sheen, or the Lohans. They all obviously need to quit exploiting themselves and put more energy into figuring how their lives are so messed up.

  2. I am not so sure I like the way that these reality shows are doing it. I don’t necessarily find it wrong that people put their children on TV (if it’s what their kids want) but using them to show off your life is just wrong. It’s a crazy world out there and it’s only getting crazier.

  3. Eliza says:

If they stopped exploiting and looked at their lives and their children’s lives they might be able to help them.
