But that can get bothersome sometimes too and Pampers thought about that.

I know several love getting the magazines just to see who is on the front cover, some like to style after the models and the others wish to look like themNow how many of you are sickened at the fact that most of them are airbrushed in one form or another?

IMG: Elizabeth Ferree

I don’t know about you but I’d like to see the pictures as is, without all the touch-ups.

It has recently come out that magazines actually airbrush babies. Yes, that’s right, not even babies can have a bit of extra weight on them. You thought teens had it bad. To be honest I’ve never found anything wrong with a baby with rolls, in fact I find them cute to a degree. How can you deny one crawling around on the floor and think they look ugly? Why cut out the fat? There is a time where many babies get a little chubby before they turn 2 and then they go right back to thinning out. But to actually airbrush it away like it never happened, that’s a bit strange to me.

According to Telegraph this is something they are really looking into and it sounds like it may be coming to an end soon. It seems that this has been a practice they’ve been doing for a while, however not many of us knew about it. Telegraph goes on to state the following:

Practical Parenting and Pregnancy, a monthly magazine, has said it has retouched photographs of babies to “put them across in the best light”.

The practice came to light in a BBC documentary, My Supermodel Baby. In footage of a photo shoot for the magazine, the casting director explained how the photograph of baby model Hadley Corbett, five months, was airbrushed: “We lightened his eyes and his general skin tone, smoothed out any blotches and the creases on his arms,” he said. “But we want it to look natural.”

Daniella Delaney, the editor of the magazine which sells nearly 40,000 copies, told The Sunday Telegraph that photographs were airbrushed but that it was kept to a minimum.

“We’ll remove things and even-up skin tone, that sort of thing. But very little is done, in fact, because obviously babies are beautiful the way they are and that is what we went to get across.”

You know I can totally get taking the red out of an eye, boogers out of the nose and same with the drool hanging from a baby’s chin. But I don’t agree with taking away the rolls. What baby is that perfect? For those that are, why continue the trend that so many hear about for Hollywood, you know the whole we have to be a size 0 or 1.

Ms. Delaney never did comment on whether or not her magazine has ever airbrushed a baby for the folds or rolls. But she did admit to airbrushing away the other things like spit, etc. What do you think of airbrushing babies? Should this continue or should it be stopped? Read the rest of the article on airbrushing babies here.

I could only imagine the fear, panic and of course the excitement the little family must’ve experienced. I remember being in labor and getting stopped at every red light and worrying the baby would come. For those that don’t know, I give birth within 45 minutes or less.

Could you picture what you’d do if you happened to be on your way to the hospital, stop at a red light and suddenly hear crying?

I liked them for Little A especially when he was at the crawling stage and they’d protect his knees from getting the knee burn most babies get from crawling.

I did not, however, know that BabyLegs also created socks. Did you? Yes, BabyLegs also makes Baby Socks and they look so cute, even the ones for boys. They recently sent Little A two pairs to try out and I think he really loves them, enough that he keeps them on and the hubby doesn’t object because they look like something a boy would wear. He got green socks that had a criss cross pattern of dark green and brown.

IMG: Elizabeth Ferree

The second set has stripes at the top and dots near the bottom of the foot. Very dark greens and browns, they also have blues and of course pinks for girls. A set of sock with comes with 2 pair comes to $10.

Don’t forget BabyLegs also have their famous legwarmers and they have new designs out: Strawberry, fire engine, tropical and of course poodle print.

There shouldn’t be, according to a survey done by Pregnancy.org 80% pregnant women ignore important nutritional advice.

Real quickly though, before we get into the survey there is a magazine offer for you: In November Pregnancy.org is offereing a 10% discount on the vitamins by using the coupon code PREG10 during checkout and all orders this month will receive a free copy of the film Being Dad USA, valued at $24.95.

400 pregnant women took part in this survey, which once again was done by Pregnancy.org. Over half admitted to having a very poor diet and bad exercise, let alone none took their pre-natals. I must ask now, how many of you took your pre-natals while you were pregnant? Why? I was actually told by my doctor not to take them, instead to take Flinstone vitamins.

The survey goes on to state:
- 61% don’t take a pre-natal vitamin daily as they feel it makes them more nauseous
- 55% did not seek expert advice on which pre-natal vitamin was suitable for them
- Over 25% of respondents admitted to consuming alcohol, cigarettes or caffeine
- Folate and Iron are the most sought after vitamins/minerals in a pre-natal vitamin but over 50% respondents don’t know what foods naturally contain them
- When asked what they look for in a pre-natal vitamin price was considered more important than absorption rates or ingredient quality
- 80% don’t change their pre-natal vitamin formula from pre-conception to breastfeeding

To get more information on vidtamins or vitamin supplements you may want to try getting a hold of the message boards at http://www.pregnancy.org and find out if anyone has suggestions on how you can get your vitamins even if you can’t handle them.

Gretchen Penny created the Easy Expression Handsfree pumping bra but when she met a mother for the first time that had a preemie she learned even more. Here’s her tips for all those new moms out there.

IMG: sxc.hu

Tips for Families with Preemies trying to Keep Healthy This Season

Employ Good Hand Washing: You don’t have to be an expert to know that hand washing is essential in keeping germs at bay. Preemies are more susceptible to infections and any one coming in contact with a preemie baby should wash his or her hands.

Keep Baby Warm This Winter: While preemies are in the hospital, their body temperature is constantly being monitored and kept warm. So when it’s time to bring your preemie home, it’s important to keep him or her warm and comfortable at home too. A good way to keep a preemie warm is by keeping a hat on his or her head, as most heat is lost through a baby’s head. Also be sure their hands and feet are toasty too!

Keep Breastfeeding. There is nothing healthier for your newborn baby than breast milk. If you can’t feed your baby directly because she is having trouble latching on, set up a good pumping routine. Like Suzy’s story, I recommend that you pump hands-free so you can hold and/or stroke your baby while you pump. Doing so aids in milk production and brings you closer to your baby.

Take care of yourself. Parents of preemies often find themselves spending hours and days, if not weeks, in the neo-natal intensive care unit. Plus, caring for a preemie can take an incredible amount of time. New moms should be sure to take care of themselves too! Don’t be shy about accepting help from well-intentioned family and friends and get plenty of rest, eat well and exercise moderately as recommended by your doctor.

Get Support: Parents of preemies can feel comforted in the fact that they are not alone and that there are support groups they can work with, such as your local March of Dimes Chapter or Preemies Today online and remote support groups. They can also seek support and encouragement from their doctors, nurses, or other parents.

The iphone said one baby was sleepy and gave a list of suggestions, here are two: 1. Read a story softly to baby 2. go on a walk with baby in a confortable stroller.

The crying generator only seems to come up with 5 different types of cries: 1. hungry 2. pacifier 3. sleepy 4. play with me 5. diaper. The application costs $9.99 a month and gives you suggestions to calming baby whether they need a new diaper or just need to get some sleep. I know I have a 2 year old that I’d love to try this out on, but I don’t have an iphone. Have you tried it?
