First Full Day Back at Work

September 4, 2006 by kate baggott

Well, I had my first full day back at work since the baby was born. It couldn’t have come a moment too soon, especially considering that when I went to take train fare out of the bank I was denied money due to insufficient funds.
I left the baby with her beloved babysitter and really didn’t think about her all day. Until my breasts started to get overly full. Combined with the cold I seem to have contracted yesterday, I was a very uncomfortable woman. Hopefully we’ll all get a good night’s sleep and tomorrow will be a better day.

  1. Same thing happened to me back in 2003 when I went back to work 7 months after I gave birth. My breasts hurt. I tried to pump at work but in the end, the milk disappeared. Of course, that happened after days and days of having engorged breasts.

    Goodluck!

Thanks for your comment. I am feeling refreshed and way more engaged and again now that I’ve taken a break. Hope your first full day back to work (other than mother work) has left you wanting more.

Melissa- Oh no, I hope that doesn’t happen to me.

Wenda- Am going to take a look at your blog now.

[...] This morning at work I was talking with a student who also has a four year-old who is in kindergarten (A German Kindergarten is like a North American pre-school for children ages 3 to 6) from 7:30 am to 1pm every day. My son, goes from roughly 8:30 to almost 4 from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays his Kindergarten closes at 3:30 and on the last Wednesday of every month at 1:30. The crazy schedule, though, is nothing compared to my worries that they let the kids run a little too wild or the fear I felt when I picked him up with a cut on his head after falling off the slide. 3. [...] Like most people, I got serious in September. I vowed to stop using celebrity mothers to increase traffic. Instead, I focussed on the very real issues of birth control, vitamins and Britney Spears. I also went back to work and left a trail of breast milk everywhere I went. [...]

  4. [...] Without caffeine, life was not easy. This morning, after 4 days long days, my headache finally went away and I feel a lot more awake than I have since I went back to work. [...]
