I owe a big thank you to the Ironic Gamer for making my life easier. Amy, thanks for your entry about Child’s Play in the Generous December Group Writing Project.

Child’s Play is the video gamer’s charity. They give kids in hospital toys, games and books so that while they are being treated, they can also play. And, Amy, you told me about it at just the right time. Your charity is getting a donation as a result of your participation in the Generous December Group Writing Project. The thing is, they’re getting it from my brother-in-law Dave…sort of.
You see, Dave (above) is the consumate video gamer and supporter of children. When he isn’t making video games professionally, he’s busy being a dad. While there’s a lot I don’t know about Dave, I’d say kids and video games, in that order, are the most important things in his life.
He also happens to have had a birthday on the 19th. Like most Christmas birthdays, people tend to overlook Dave’s day because they’re distracted with shopping, baking cookies and spending tons of money on the bigger party. As evidence of this, I have to confess that I got Dave nothing for his birthday.
In the past, I’ve bought Dave a bottle of run and a hockey highlights DVD for his birthday, but I’d like to get him something a little more personal. So, Dave, inspired by Amy’s recommendation, I sent a donation for $20 to Child’s Play in honor of your birthday. Sorry it’s a bit late, but I hope you like it and that you have a wonderful year.

thanks Kate
That’s awesome!
Not only are you off the hook as far as a gift for your bro, you’re also getting a sick kid a gift as well.
I hope that some of your readers follow your lead.
Dave/Amy- It’s been a pleasure.
