It’s in, the official top list for American Baby Names has the top baby name for 2008 out.
Emily for Girls
Jacob for Boys
Here’s a quick list of top names for those of you looking for something or to show your partner what a perfect name you have picked out.
Girls: Elizabeth, Hannah, Abigail, Emma, Olivia, Madison, Sophia
Boys: Michael, Matthew, Joshua, Ethan, Christopher, Anthony, William, Daniel and Andrew.
My brother’s name is Andrew (he’s 29) and he and his wife just found out they’re having a baby boy (their first!) I wonder if they’ll cave and name him after his daddy even though the name is popular???
The just released statistics are for 2007, not 2008.
I like the name Matthew.

Thanks for the list. Personally I would not pick a name from the most popular list for my own child as I prefer unique names which will make my baby stand out.
