Huggies Pull-Ups knows how hard it is to train those babies and they know how much money we, as parents tend to spend on diapers just to get them potty trained. So, Huggies is sponsoring Babylune with this giveaway, where two winners will get a Potty Training Success Packages. They’ve sent me my own Potty Training package, which I’ll review later this week, but lets start off by saying you get diapers, a DVD and a surprise for your little one.

For those that may not remember my post a month ago, celebrity star, Melissa Joan Hart is in the process of potty training her son Mason. She’s even keeping an online journal of her experience right on the Pull-Ups site. Stop by and see what she’s trying to do to help him out. But don’t forget you can also swing by Big Kid Central and check out all the potty training advice they’ve got online for you. You can order your own free, “Potty Training DVD” now.

when it came time to train my daughter the only thing that worked was knowing she wasnt able to go into the big girls “two year old room” at her day care. I tried big girl panties, rewards, nothing worked untill then. Now my son Im hoping it will be alot easier! I would like to try the cool alert trainers, almost 10 years ago they had just basic pull ups!

  2. Brian Morin says:

With our son we tried about every method there was, charts, letting him do it on his own, you name it. Eventually he just decided it was time on his own and has been good ever since. With our daughter we used the “Big brother is using the potty” method. She actually has potty trained herself, she’s just still too little to get on the potty by herself. If I win I would like the Night-Time pull-ups.

  3. Mary says:

It’s been a long time since I’ve had to potty train a child and I guess I tried all the usual things. I had four and the last one basically “trained” herself as I was kinda tired of it all by then. :-) They seem to figure it out when they are ready.
Now my youngest dd is about to start her son. If I win, I will give this prize to her.

  4. Rachel Crisman says:

A friend of mine tells me to put cheerios in the toilet to let little boys practice their aim.

  5. Mary Jenkins says:

my daughter isn’t quite to potty training age yet, but i plan on putting her on the toilet every time she goes, even if she’s already wet a daiper. that should convey the idea and keep her from going on herself because its easier. but we’ll see how that actually works in practice!

  6. Noreen says:

an m&m for sitting on the potty and 2 if you go, 4 if you do both

I like the learning designs with the disney princesses

  7. Jodi F says:

When I go to the restroom I ask my son if he needs to go. He is getting more comfortable sitting on his little potty but we have yet to have any actual use of it.

  8. KLM says:

Cheerio’s in the potty works really well! Tell them to aim :) This only works for boys, of course. I’d like the night-time pullups.

  9. Pamela Muldowney says:

I’ve found that they really need to relax. Reading a book to them while they sit there works for me.

  10. stripmall says:

My daughter potty trained herself. My son is not going for it. Not even with special toys he can only play with on the potty. Not stickers, not books, nothing. I’d like the nighttime pullups so we don’t have to change our sons diapers late at night to prevent leakage.

  11. Deb says:

Bribery. We used M & M’s. If he went potty he got 1 M & M. Believe it or not, he trained very easily. Of course, he has a sweet tooth and doesn’t get candy very often, so this was special.

  12. Louise Brouillette says:

    I love the Cheerios idea!!!

  13. Tonya Froemel says:

When my oldest dd potty trained, daycare gave out an m7m whenever she was successful and that worked. Youngest dd gets dora fruit snacks, but it is not working so well for her. We would like to try the Nighttime pullups.

  14. Kam A says:

When it came to my first son the only thing that worked was waiting until he was ready to do it on his own. Otherwise the more I pushed it the more he didn’t want to do it.

My second is a month away from two and I am just getting ready to pull out the little potty again and see if he has any interest yet so I could definitely use a potty training kit!

From the website I like the Cars learning designs pull-ups :)

  15. Staci K says:

My son loved when I put Cheerios in the toilet so he could ‘target practice.’

  16. beth shepherd says:

My daughter is 2 and we are just starting to start potty training. We are trying the M&M’s if she goes in the potty.

  17. susan varney says:

    whatever it takes

  18. laurie says:

We’ve tried everything. He is able to potty on command. He just doesn’t want to stop what he is doing to go on his own. I don’t recommend putting on the undies before they are ready. Cleaning up poopy underwear is dreadful. And it hasn’t worked here.

  19. Danielle Malaise says:

I had my son pick out his new underwear at the store and the new potty seat. It helped. Wasn’t a miracle by any means. :)

  20. Gina Stratos says:

We just bought lots and lots of underwear, sheets, laundry detergent and small reward (stickers, m&ms, etc). We dedicated a weekend to potty training and just went full throttle. It worked.

  21. Liz Moss says:

Right now, we are just placing our daughter on the toilet at bathtime and in between diaper changes to get her used to the potty and sitting on it.

  22. Christy says:

I don’t know. I’m still trying to get my 2.5 yr old son to sit on the potty. I do wish they had some that were appropriate for kids who are a bit bigger than average. My son is tall and just doesn’t look comfortable on the potty chairs. I’d love to try the cool alert, since I think it would help to motivate him to stay dry.

  23. We used a huge bribe to get my daughter out of diapers completely.. a Barbie Jeep! lol It worked for us at the time but with my son I will have to use a different approach.

  24. Sharon Jones says:

    Fruit Loops…aim for the colors…:)

  25. Susan C says:

My 2 year old grandaughter is just starting to train. She loves sitting on the potty, as long as someone is in there with her. The bathroom has become sparkling clean while we have been waiting. We have bought fancy underpants for the big day.

  26. Heidi Todd says:

I think I saw it on Oprah. Treat each time like a party. Throw confetti and cheer, dance around. My daughter is only 1, but it is the first thing to try

  27. charline s says:

I used a sticker chart and rewarded with m&m’s

  28. Thomas Gibson says:

We potty trained our cat a few years ago to use the toilet. Our daughter had no problem getting used the toilet, because she wanted to do what her kitty Samantha was already doing. By the way, we do sterilize our toilet with rubbing alcohol before using.

  29. valerie mabrey says:

putting cheerios in the bowl seems to work

  30. Jodi says:

No pressure, no scolding/disappointment at mistakes, lots of praise with every success. I’m convinced there’s very little we can do as parents to coerce a child into using the toilet–but there are lots of ways we can make it more difficult/upsetting.

  31. Evelyn says:

Right now he has just starting and he’s been snubbing the potty. Help

  32. Vergie says:

    wonderful gift

  33. Catherine copeland says:

when training the boys I used the sink the toilet paper ships game. Oh my

  34. Sierra Rendon says:

The thing that seems to work best with both of my kids is letting them be naked! They don’t seem to want to pee on themselves! I would love to try the nighttime diapers because that is always the hardest part to get through!

  35. Suzanne Denys says:

I am currently trying to train my 3 year old son. I have told him every time he is dry and then goes on the potty he gets a penny for his bank. He gets so excited about that. I have to remind him often to go but usually he’s already gone. He won’t go #2 at all on the potty. I’ve told him I will buy him any toy he wants when he goes #2 on the toilet like I did with my daughter. He is excited but doesn’t want to go on the potty for #2. I know eventually he will but it gets aggravating. I wanted him trained before vacation next month but I think I will keep being persistent and then see what happens.

  36. We tried a variety of methods.
    1) Taking him to the potty every hour.
    2) Clapping, singing, dancing when he went.
    3) Reading potty books.
    4) Watching the Blue’s Clues potty video.
    5) Encouragement from his older sister.
    6) Wearing underwear and letting him feel the pee.
    7) Buying special character underwear.

He was so determined that he was not going to poo in the potty. I kept telling him how happy it would make him and finally one day he did it. He said, “Mommy, you so happy?!?” After that, we had no problems. It was so great!

He’s doing pretty good now, but we still use pull-ups when we go on trips and at night.

  37. Forgot to add:

    8) We started giving him a Chuck E Cheese token every time he used the potty. He would put them in his cup and then we’d take him to Chuck E Cheese when he got enough of them. He said, “I poop in the potty and go to Chuck E Cheese!”. lol

  38. Jeff West says:

I trained my son to use the potty by putting a plastic bullseye target in the toliet & he had a ball whenever he had to go & got to “shoot” the target.

  39. I tried the cheerios thing with my son when I potty trained him and he didn’t care, haha, just time worked… I’d like some new ideas for my other baby though

  40. sandy says:

guess I am mean, because I bought a potty when my child was born and let him see the potty from day 1- he saw us go- left the doors open to see us go on the bigger, but he was out of diapers by 1 1/2..now starting with grandkids and nieces

  41. misty says:

I’ve tried rewarding my daughter for using the potty(which did not work.)Eventually I learned that forcing the issue only makes it take longer. Just keep a nonchalant attitude twoard it, and they will come around when they are ready.

I’d like to try the learning designs. Thanks so much for the opportunity.

  42. kelly says:

My older daughter was almost 4yrs old and I could not get her to go on the potty she just liked the diaper! I just got tired of it I had tried every thing so every time she went in her pants a toy went to the basement if she went on the potty a toy came back! She was going on the potty with-in 2 days! Different things work for different kids!
My younger daughter setting a potty in the middle of the living room (so she did not have to leave her toys) did the trick! She was potty trained at 1.

  43. Adrienne Gordon says:

We tried allowing them to make their own decision when they wanted to start, big mistake.

  44. Michele says:

I would try the night time pull ups. The potty training thing I need to try is cutting off drinks after a certain time to get rid of diapers at night – my daughter is going to hate it!

  45. Karen W says:

When my kids were training, I’d sit them down on the potty, and I’d get down in front of them, asking them if they could make it rain. Pretending they would and could make it rain by listening for it. It works. I’d like to try the nite time pullups.

  46. sarah says:

I’ve always wanted to try the Cheerios target practice.

  47. Rebecca Peters says:

With my daughter, who was all potty trained at 15 months, I let her (in the house only) play with no diaper on. Since we had hard wood floors it was no big deal. She only had a accident a couple times. Now I have little boy. I really don’t know how to train him!

  48. JoAnn says:

My daughter has just turned 3 and we have been potty training for a few months now with no success. At first I tried stickers, praise, let her pick out her own big girl panties….nothing. Now everytime she pees in the potty she gets two m&m’s and this actually seems to be working better than anything. She loves m&m’s and this is the only time she gets them. If I win I would like the night time ones

  49. Storm says:

I was thinking I’d use a sticker chart and then when we get to 10, do something fun. Now I’m thinking I really like the Chuck E Cheese token idea posted above – that sounds great!

  50. Carol Drury says:

I found buying a bunch of little prizes from the Dollar store and making a grab bag and allowing him to pull something out of it everytime he used the potty worked like a charm!!!!!
