Post-children, most mothers’ bodies are never the same again.

That doesn’t mean it can’t do great things!

Today’s inspiration is Becky Kellar.

Becky helped Canada’s women’s hockey team win a gold medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. Her first son was just 16 months-old.

  • Kellar’s journey from pregnancy to the podium while nurturing baby Owen through endless bus rides and long flights was challenging and exhausting, but she cherishes every moment, reported the Toronto Star in its profile of Kellar.

And Kellar, 32, hopes her experience will be an inspiration to other female athletes who might think having a baby will end their days of performing at an elite level – or for women in general who give up activities they love after the kids arrive.

Now pregnant with her second child, Kellar plans a repeat gold in 2010.
