[...] According to Hsien-Hsien’s comments, it does look like Ogilvie uses a mixture of compassion and good sense to advise parents who desperately need a little help, understanding and sensitivity. Psychic? Baby mind reader? Probably not. I am instinctively in agreement with Helen, who despairs that so many people are just out of tune with their children. That said, do we live in societies that need to view helpfulness, understanding and sensitivity as exotic, other-world talents? I believe that all of us are capable of treating our children and each other with those three qualities every day. So THAT’s what it is! Huh!

Callum is getting pretty smart. He makes little fussy noises – and has a little fake cough, as if he is about to cry when sitting in his bouncey chair and I don’t look directly at him for too long- then I turn and he is watching my face, and I just LOOK into his eyes and say absolutely anything – and he smiles and laughs! Man – he is cute but he has me wrapped around his little finger!
