Jon & Kate Plus 8: What Do you Think?

What started off as a simple show that would follow around a couple that were blessed with 8 children, a set of twins and then sextuplets. Many people have changed their opinions of what they once thought of this miracle family over the years. Feel free to jump in and give your voice a chance to be heard.
This next episode shows a bit about their life and when she found out one of their darlings would need glasses at a young age. I know the feeling of finding out something could go wrong and honestly I think it is every mom’s (and dad’s) worst nightmare.
But once they got more popular it seemed things changed, we got to watch Kate get a bit meaner and angry towards Jon. Jon simply sat back, looked miserable and took it all in. It was as if he realized he was just doomed to always be the heel of every joke. I kind of feel bad for him as she is always saying something negative towards him, hitting him or just so controlling over him. I also noticed that her once VERY good friend, “aunt” Jody, was in many episodes and even talked about how they never mean it when they fight was booted from the show. This being the reason (aunt jody) that Jon & Kate moved into the neighborhood.
Today there a few new sites popping up, one in particular that seems to have a lot of fans and non-fans running to is the “Gosselins Without Pity” and this site tells you exactly how she sees it. Even Aunt Jody’s sister is blogging about Kate & Jon.

I don’t think she’s gotten meaner, I think she’s just gotten more used to the cameras being around. I have three kids, and I have been every bit as snarky toward my husband as she has–with five less kids! I don’t think either of them are heels or mean, I think they are tired and stressed and normal.
As for Jodi’s issue about the kids being exploited, having a camera crew around 3 to 4 days a week in exchange for the obvious betterment of their living conditions is a smart decision. I don’t think there would have been a thing noble about them living, crammed into their original home, in obscurity.
They won’t always be renewed, so get the right home now, invest the rest, and ride it. You think college for eight is free?
I think some of you are losing site of the big picture… Jon and Kate are getting paid very well to have the camera crews in their home! How do you think they were able to afford their new 1.3 million dollar home? That is from all the speaking engagements and from being paid from the tv show! Had they not allowed the cameras to be in their house, they would still be living in their little original house! You are probably right that they are doing this to have a better lifestyle and that they now have! Can’t have it both ways! When you see the early episodes, Kate was so nice and a different person. She has become somewhat of a shrew and I know if that’s from stress or that’s just who she is and was playing a good game in the early shows. If you notice, they really have no friends. Even Beth isn’t around anymore.
It’s not a matter of being jealous of them – it’s a matter of Kate saying that she is appreciate of all they have now but not showing it! I’m just wondering if they don’t renew their contract with the show, how will they support the lifestyle to which they have become so accustomed?
Snarky is another word for bitchy ?
I think that she is such bitch. She never stops nip picking at Jon and she is such a control freak. She can’t stand to be wrong. It is asame for Jon after she goes on at him.
Unfortunately the OctaMom has seen what Jon and Kate have been able to get- free trips, clothes appliances etc. I blame the Discovery Channel / TLC for producing shows like this.
Time to pull the plug on Jon and Kate..and the Duggers!!
I used to love Jon and Kate plus 8 – but Kate has become a WITCH… She is just a mean spirited person and Mady is just like her! When they went to Hawaii, Kate was very rude to the people at the Spa, at the hotel and at the restaurants. I am having a very hard time continuing to watch this show because Kate is not a pleasure to watch! With TLC getting them this big new house, she is really turned into a shrew! Her house was never that clean or picked up and all she did is rant on and on about the cleanliness of this new house = she even ranted on about the basement when they moved the freezer! Who cleans behind the freezer in the basement???
I can see now why her family wants nothing to do with her! Kate only wanted this big new house to be like her friend Beth. Don’t you notice the similarities of both homes?
Kate stated in the past that she is very grateful for everything she has – she certainly doesn’t act that way!!!!
I don’t know how much longer I can continue to watch the show… I am sure when the kids turn 18 and Jon won’t have to pay child support, he will smarten up and leave Kate for a woman who loves and respect him and doesn’t make fun of him all the time! Kate makes fun of Jon’s hairline and his weight – does she ever look in the mirror?
She needs to get braces! She can eat an apple through a picket fence!
I believe it takes a lot of strength to let camera crews and the entire world watch you, your family and every thing you do with your children. Who are we to say what is right or wrong. In the world today, there is many other things we can complain about or critisize besides a tv series on an american family. Im sure there is even worse said about 18 and Growing. Worry about your own family! I personally love watching the show when I can catch it on. The children are adorable and even though Kate may seem as “controlling” or what ever half of the posts might say she is, what woman wouldnt be with 8 kids running and screaming and strangers in your house and during private moments? I commend Kate, Jon and all the kids. Its interesting to watch all the things they get to do. And the benefits they get for allowing all this to happen, would any of you really say you’d shun that off and take nothing in return? It’s not like they are snobby or pushing their beliefs off or wearing brand logos and pushing their kids into selling anything. They are just being a true american family. Watch and enjoy or turn the channel and stop being jealous! ~C.R.~
I don’t think jealousy is a factor. I think that it’s hard for people to see it from their perspective. With that many kids, it’s kind of hard NOT to yell. If you don’t get loud, you won’t be heard. When they get older then that situation may change. I don’t think we should be the ones to judge. If she is Christian, Kate knows who will judge her and Jon. I think everyone needs to back off a bit and concentrate on THEIR lives instead of attacking others. They’ll have to deal with the consequences. I don’t understand why people are so concerned about this really. If they don’t like the show, don’t watch it. If it’s that big of a deal, turn off your tv’s. If ratings go down, the show will go with it……….

The fact that any of you would talk about little Maddie, who is only 7 and trying to find her way in the world like any other kid, in such adult snarky terms completely invalidates the credibility of your comments.
Not that your spelling or grammar wouldn’t have done that first.
This family is trying to do their best just like many of us. The fact that Kate occasionally lets of steam, instead of being a cookie cutout, is normal. Apparently, however, you have been sitting on the couch watching TV people for so long–as opposed to interacting with real people–that you no longer know what’s real anymore.

You sound like one of those parents who make excuses for their kids when problems are clearly going on.
Maddie is a horrible child. She’s a sneaky and abuse. The little girl needs help, but someone like you would say “awww she’s just reaching out from lack of attention being one of 8″

I told myself I was not going to watch the show again, I did catch bits and pieces of the getting the dog episode. Back in the day we had a German shepherd. A smart dog but after a local natural disaster (tornado) he developed a rage disorder and had to be but down. I only hope when one of their dogs go nuts the dog takes after Kate. Now that would be a classic episode.
What has made you people so mean? Is meanness just in vogue now, or do I just not hang out with mean people? I mean, if you haters are the norm out there, I think I’ll become a hermit!
From the begininng of the show the Jon & Kate were famous because Kate had sextuplets and they were healthy. Jon,at the time was already doing interviews. Since they are a very young couple and nice looking TLC decided to interview them. Kate is very well versed and at the time she was very well organized and still is. I believe the internet got where they are now. I am sure Jon was very scared how he was going to support these children. There have been other shows on TLC with other sextuplets,little people,large family’s that were not popular,but Jon & Kate & Little People Big World,and the Duggers are!! WHY ARE YOU WATCHING AND WHY ARE YOU COMPLAINING??? ARE YOU JEALOUS because they are making the the money you wished you could have??? TLC is a vey successful network and they have done very well deciding who will be good for the ratings!

so what’s this Jon minus Kate and the 8 = Jon + the coeds?
We know that Jodi is not longer on the show due to something that happened with Kate, but what about Beth? She hasn’t been on any of the new shows with the new house and that seems so strange being that they used to go to Beth’s every Sunday. I have noticed that Kate has been a little bit nicer on two of the new shows, but it also seems the Producer Jenn is gone and also they have a new camera man. Has Kate even alienated the people that are paid to be with her?
All that woman does is complain about how tough t it is to have 8 kids. Hey nobody forced you to have them lady!
Since this show has been on TV, the Gosselins have gotten free trips, hair transplants, tummy tucks, a new house, clothes…the list goes on and on.
The only one I feel I kind of feel sorry for is the husband who gets treated like crap by his increasingly diva-like witchy, whiny wife.
For their own good, it is time to pull the plug on the Gosslins before the kids all turn into spoiled little media brats. Jon sould get off his butt, grow a pair and go back to work. He should tell Kate to start treating him better or she will be have to go back to nursing to support herself and those 8 kids by herself! ‘Nough said!
You don’t know how they really live are what else they do with there time everytime they move doesn’t mean there getting it for free!!!She has the right to complain if she wants to we live in america and i am sure you complain but your not on t.v. We only watch them 30 min of there life stop judgeing your not in there shoes!!!
Do you all understand this is a television show. They are only showing you what they want to show you. Don’t pass judgement on someone unless you know them. Kate has her moments, but don’t we all, I know I do. If you don’t like the show turn it off. My young son loves to watch this show as do I.
Kate – I do not know how john puts up with you – you always say he cuts you of when talking – well shut up a while & give him a chance to converse – he is your husband, friend & lover – where is the respect to him??? treat him better before he pushes you off the curb – I can’t even watch your program anymore!
Your right you don’t know how jon puts up with her because your not jon!!!I think Jon and Kate balance each other i love the show and i respect Kate because she wants the best for her family and nobody is perfect everyone has flaws!!!
I am tired of this show, I find Kate to be very controlling and its irratating. Time for something new, what happened to all the other shows that were on TLC

I have watched Jon and Kate plus 8 from the beginning Kate is organized because she has to be imagine what it would be like with 8 children if she let things go the household would be a mess. I dont know why they film Maddy in her bad moments, I do think she needs some counceling because of the way she treats her younger siblings pushing, hitting and shoving and then the lying its more then a control issue. I think they are a loving family and doing the best they can with all those kids. I will continue to watch…

Widowed 70 yr old here w/ 2 light of me life grandkids. Kate m’dear, once the spouse is
gone, you will know what you’ve missed. Both of you are so young; Jon correctly senses they are teetering on brink of media mania. Kate has glammed up and there is a siren call when u become better than you thought you’d be.
Guess what! Fame is fleeting and they already have a bigger, more stable group lined up right behind you. Save the kids and let them have playmates of their own, a private life, get off the media treadmill, go back to work,invest wisely and conservatively. Get some counseling for OCD for poor Mady who “wants the dog to love just me” and her mom, who she emulates and copies down to the the temper rages.
How ’bout an annual special. I’d love to see the kids once they have grown
out of the spotlight. That way, you still have the media attention, but in a kinder , gentler way. Jon, you are on the right track. Kate, step back, do some yoga ALONE with no crew around and call in the Dog Whisperer to train the pups so they won’t develop something that will annoy Kate to making them disappear , as did Jodi and maybe, Bethe
along with the assorted other helpers. Be nice to the new one and pray she stays. Words of
wisdom, scratched in the dirt from one who may have insight that comes with age. Don’t give up the ship and kiss the kids for me. Nan
I think that Jon and Kate are tring to do the best that they can do with what they have to work with. What would you have done if you all had 8 kids in a 5 year time span. I think that they are doing a great job. For the kid’s sake, I bet that they are all tring to get use to having that many brothers and sisters. You would want some alone time with your mommy and daddy if you had that many sibblings!
If you don’t like the show don’t watch it plain and simple no one is forcing you to!!!
I stopped watching Jon and Kate a while ago – I will watch the early reruns as Kate acted like a “normal” person then…. what happened to her? I don’t buy the theory that she has 8 kids so that gives her a right to be bitchy and mean. She wasn’t always like that. She has changed. Something happened to her.
AND- MOMMY of 5 – you are right – we don’t have to watch the show and I don’t! I hope they don’t renew to come back on the air. The show that has replaced them is great – Table for 12… granted the children aren’t as cute as the Gosselin children BUT – THE PARENTS ARE SO NICE! They are ALWAYS showing love to the children AND EACH OTHER! They have 2 more children and are 10 times happier and NICER! Hopefully Jon will reclaim “his” and stand by his convictions that he doesn’t want to renew the show. But being Kate is the boss, who knows what will happen?
