Man to Give Birth

I was totally going to skip this one but thought since this is all about motherhood, I’d include any news items that went with the topic. I’m sure by now many of you have heard about the Man that is pregnant. What’s your take on it? Is the world ready for the first man to give birth? This is a year for firsts so I guess it shouldn’t have come as that much of a surprise.
For those that don’t know, Thomas Beatie was born a girl and later had the operation to become a man. However, when his wife couldn’t have a child the couple went to specialists to try getting him pregnant since he had been born a girl with the parts. The plan worked and he is currently pregnant and expecting their first child, a little girl, this July.
So I’m guessing that will be a planned C-section, eh?

Well, he did not “have the operation to become a man”, since no such operation exists.
He took hormones but retained female reproductive organs. He’s stopped taking the hormones and become pregnant.
Plenty of mothers have later crossed genders – do they stop being mothers? This is the first widely-reported pregancy that has occured in a person who was a woman and is living as a man.
I think I’ll give up on this site soon if the comments here are an indication of the level of discussion.

I just stopped in to see how things were going with Babylune since Kate left and clearly, I got my answer.

You are correct it was not an operation, it was reassignment surgery 10 years ago to become more like a man. He did keep his reproductive organs,and took testosterone for 10 years.
