Mom Gives Birth, Not Kidney Stones

A Candian mom believed she was experiencing kidney stones found out they weren’t. Nope, not at all, not unless you count a 7lb 12oz baby boy as a kidney stone. This mom actually had no clue she was pregnant, that is until she rushed into ER from what she thought was a bad case of the stones. She went in to get an x-ray and was greeted with the news that she wasn’t just pregnant but about to give birth.
“When I went back to emerg, the doctor was waiting for me and he said, ‘It’s no kidney stone.’ He said, ‘You’ve got a baby ready to be born,’ ” said the 36-year-old Stead.
“I said, ‘No, that can’t happen’ . . . I told him he had the wrong X-ray file.”
Oh all this took place on New Year’s Eve to top things off. The baby was named Nicholas Stead and he joins big brother, Cameron (2 years old), mom, Jaunita and dad, Terry. Guess you can say this will be a very interesting birth story to share for years to come.

That’s so funny. My mom thought she had kidney stones too. She called her doctor and he told her if the pain got worse to go to the hospital. So she went to the mall and shopped until the pain was too bad then went to the hospital. That’s when she found out she was pregnant and in labor.
“…a bad case of the stones.” That line made me laugh. I know that they are not funny and horribly painful – I just have a twisted sense of humor sometimes. Sorry.
What a mess. An x-ray when she was pregnant. Pregnant when she didn’t know she was pregnant. Can you imagine having to take a surprise baby home with absolutely NO supplies? Oh my goodness. That poor mom.
Hey Summer, I am an intern working on this new show on Discovery Health called “I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant!” I was wondering if your mom would like to be on the show. Please give us her decision when you call (626)535-0868 ext. 307.
