Momma’s Coffee Break

Wow what a busy week that we just got through, first there was Valentine’s Day last weekend, then President’s day and finally a break. But soon we’ll have new holidays before us, St.Patty’s Day and of course Easter.
So hopefully this should stir up some memories or crafty ideas for you with your babies. How do you get your baby involved in the holiday traditions? Do you begin early or wait until they are old enough to understand?
When my now 11-year-old was born it was the same weekend as Easter, so we kind of skipped that. However every year after we celebrated every holiday, even some that aren’t officially celebrated.
Course this is Open chat so feel free to ask questions or chat. Have fun!

We start with the first holiday after birth – and three of my kids have been born 4 to 6 weeks before a holiday. The other one was born December 22 so she got immersed in traditions immediately!
We wear red and/or pink on Valentine’s Day; wear green on St. Patrick’s Day; do Easter Baskets and dye eggs, etc. Starting at age 2 I start including them in any crafts we may do for the holiday. We also celebrate the “season” if there’s not a holiday coming up. We’ll make crayon shaving “stained glass” (using crayon shavings, wax paper and an iron) shapes to hang from our dining room light fixture. The kids love doing that!
My 1st son’s was Easter Weekend, my last son came days before St. Patty’s. My oldest daughter was born July7, which happens to be near 4th of July.
I go all out on holidays normally, the food will be the color the holiday is. On Halloween (my favorite) I evenn have a GROSS OUT menu for them and I hang it on the door for the day. I think we started the holidays a few months after the 1st was born, each of the others were whatever holiday was close cause you can’t ruin it for the first
I’ll have to try the stained glass, thanks for the idea. We celebrate the “season” as well.
