Moms Speak About Weight Gain

As I mentioned this morning, moms all over the internet/world have one thing in common once they have children, they either gain weight or lose weight. I asked readers if they’d like to take part in a question and answer email and many emailed with their responses. I’m glad to say, I’m not the only one that had issues with her weight after having a child. I’ve also learned that it isn’t just moms that give birth, but moms that adopt children as well (Thanks for reminding me Pickel).
Here’s what some moms are saying:
ALL moms deal with this, not just moms that give birth. Fertility issues are really hard on the body and can cause such hormonal changes that you gain weight like crazy. I gained about 15 pounds and then lost it after our adoption (due to stress) but have gained that 15 back. No matter what I do I can’t lose it. – Pickel
When my 3rd was 2 weeks old, I was in a size 7 jeans (tight) and my dad asked when Iw as going to lose that fat. – Marye Audet
Susie was already 2 when I finally woke up to my weight problem. I weighed 151 pounds at that point and lived in sweat pants and my husbands over-sized t-shirts. I’d become friends with a neighbor who was just a few years younger than me. She tactfully mentioned one day that she thought I was really pretty and wondered why I had let myself go. I looked in the mirror that night and broke into tears. – Dawn
For myself, I’ll never forget my 6 year old asking me why I was still pregnant…only days after giving birth. While most would say, this is a normal thing it hit hard. Do you remember someone saying something about the way you looked? How did you feel?

I was fortunate. All comments my direction were on how quickly I was losing, and how envious that at 3 months I could wear some of my pre-pregnancy pants. Sure some lose more quickly, but I thought I was on a fast track!
