My Recovery Diet Includes Blueberries

April 2, 2006 by kate baggott

The cornerstone of my “lose the baby weight challenge” is to try and eat between 5 and 10 servings of fruit and vegetables a day (my most successful dieting adventures have always revolved around getting enough fibre). Blueberries, it now seems, may have more health benefits than the apples and oranges I have every day.

According to an article in Friday’s Toronto Star, “blueberries get their pretty colour from antioxidants called anthocyanins. Antioxidants defend the body against cell damage, and help ward off heart disease, dementia and cancer.”

Since I have a serious case of milk brain, I am especially keen to eat anything that might ward off dimentia.
