Headaches and motherhood just go together. In the first weeks after giving birth, a new mother’s headaches can be related to stress, sleeplessness, blood loss, or even dehydration due to not drinking enough while breast feeding.
A recent article in the UK newspaper The Guardian, offered yet a few more reasons for headache onset. According to the article, there are a few more headache triggers:
1. Sex
2. Toxic Bowel (constipation)
3. drug mis-use
4. Bottled up anger
5. Lazy posture
6. An awkward shampoo at the hairdresser’s
7. Leisure: Triggered by relaxation after a stressful week that releases the stress built up by missing sleep or regular meals, or anxiety.
From the list, I would say constipation and poor posture are more likely to affect new mothers. Then again, I know more than one new mother whose harbouring a lot of built up anger toward their spouses, single friends, mothers and mothers-in-law who just don’t know how to help.
What do you think causes your headaches?
