How many of you know about Breast Cancer? Yeah, that’s what I thought, everyone has heard about it but you probably just think it won’t happen to me. Right? The truth is many of us just figure it won’t happen to us until we know someone close to us that it does happen to, or it happens to us. According to Cancer.Gov, 182,460 women were diagnosed there has been 40,480 deaths this year too.
Many believe if they eat right they’ll avoid it, this is not true. It can happen to anyone. Others believe that if you breastfeed your baby you won’t get it, this isn’t entirely true. Breastfeeding does help lower the risk, but isn’t your 100% guarantee you won’t get it.
There are ways to watch out for breast cancer though:
- give yourself a breast exam, if you feel lumps that are strange get a check up. While it might be nothing or just lumps from breastfeeding, it could be an indication. Lets not chance it.
- Mammograms are great if you are at the age of 40 or more.
- If it is in your family, try getting an exam done 10 years prior from when your family member was diagnosed with breast cancer.

I am fortunate to say that no one in my familial history has been diagnosed with breast cancer. That being said, I was at the doctor this morning and she said she would send me for a baseline mammogram next year, just to check.
i wanna win!!!!! please!!!..lol
I have to go in for my first mammography. So far no breast cancer in my family, except my grandma and not until she was in her 80’s.
My mother was recently diagnosed with atypical ductal hyperplasia. It is not breast cancer, but the lesion needs to be followed every 3 months now to make sure it does not change. She could have opted to have it removed, but she decided since it was not positive for cancer, she would go the less invasive route initially and see what happens. We are of course relieved the results were not positive, but there is this sense of uncertainty in her future which does leave the family feeling uneasy. It has really made me react even more proactively in my own personal breast cancer prevention healthcare and also has me encouraging my friends to be the same. I learn so much during BCAM and appreciate you all who take the time to share information with the public via your websites and blogs. And, did I mention I love surprises! It always is fun to dream and imagine the possibilities. Thank you for participating in Blogtoberfest!!
Very important to do self exams too routinely and have a mammogram.
I have an Aunt who died last month from breast cancer.
It is surely very important to have regular mammograms and to also do monthly breast exams.
Thanks so much!

I have a sister who has recently been diagnoised with breast cancer. I have had exams.
Fortunately nobody in my family has had breast cancer. It’s alarming how many people are diagnosed with it each year.
Don’t forget to have a baseline at 35!
Cancer of all types need a cure
It’s so worth the inconvenience.
Check yourselves ladies…not a thing to mess around with!
I had cancer last year, so I know how important those tests are. Thanks for the giveaway!

Good things to know.
Nobody in my family has suffered from this, but I did have a scare at 16 years old. Had a boob-smashing mammogram at 16.
Thankfully nobody in my family has ever had breast cancer, but I know a family that was devastated at losing their mother to it. Early detection is so important, thanks for sharing this info with us!
My cousin is a breast cancer survivor and I appreciate the efforts to increase awareness.
Cancer has taken a lot of people too early.
We have been lucky to not have breast cancer in our family yet. Thank you so much for an opportunity to win!
Please enter me into the contest. Thanks!
I’m fortunate enough to not know anybody who is battling breast cancer.
