Part One: Generous December Group Writing Project

We started opening the windows on our Advent Calendar this weekend. The sweetest time of the year is getting close. This weekend also saw the first soft-centered entries come in for the Generous December Group Writing Project. It’s off to an inspiring start. Take a look at these wonderful posts and then write your own about your favorite charity by December 19th. You could be eligible to win a donation to that charity just in time for Christmas.

Saturday was World AIDS Day and, appropriately, Noreen from Hankering for Yarn came into the contest with her support for brave grannies, little babies and the Stephen Lewis Foundation.

Animal lover Gayla at Super Nanny Rules has come in with a heart-felt post about Save-a-Pet. I have to warn you that the post includes extremely cute pictures of Gayla’s rescued dogs.

Christina at Solomother wants to give and receive this year. She’s throwing her support behind the YWCA, one of the oldest service agencies that is always there for women in trouble or who want to change their lives for any reason.

Sewing blogger Chloe at Tangled Thread is throwing her support behind Operation Kid Comfort. Her post certainly made me feel cosier.

So, I am giving away my own money at the end of this Group Writing Project and think I should make the decision myself, but if it were your money, which of these charities would get it? Leave a comment to tell me why.

We have donated the good seconds from our pottery studio to a local battered women’s shelter for some years. Other artists have joined us in this effort. The shelter has given items to women as Mother’s Day, Christmas, Hanukah and birthday gifts. We once received a note from a woman who had received some of our work. She wrote that at a time in her life when, although she knew she was doing what was best for her and her children, she felt pretty awful; and receiving beautiful hand crafted things made her feel special.
We do this because it is the right thing for us to do, quietly and from the heart.

Debra- I hope you’ll write a post on your own blog about the shelter and link to its page. You could win a donation for the charity. Her are the details:
