Presents for me

While at home, the kids and I got some wonderful presents. Two of them were an acknowledgement that I, having recently given birth, might be in need of a little pampering. Sure, the kids are happy with all the toys and clothes and all of them are very generous and thoughtful gifts. I don’t want to diminish them.

But I am over the moon with the gifts that were just for me.

Friends gave me a Foot Care Kit and a tub of Mango Body Butter from the Body Shop.

I’ve long been a fan of The Body Shop. I don’t believe that taking a raspberry bubble bath is going to save the environment and I wish they would stop implying that buying unneccessary things was somehow ecologically responsible. But, I must say a little pampering (the cream for my stretch marks and poor aching feet), has made this new mother feel much better.

You know, they really should have a baby shower registry. Come to think of it, so should every day spa in the world. The next time I go to a baby shower, I am buying presents just for the mother.

A baby shower registry at those stores is such a great idea! I have never found showers with special soaps as wonderful as when I haven’t had one in a couple of days trapped at home with baby. :P

My new favorite baby shower gift is a gift certificate to a once-a-month cooking shop, where the mother can prepare several meals to freeze and have ready for after the birth. It’s expensive but it’s a good group gift, and it would make for a really fun shower if everyone wanted to spend an evening at the shop making meals for themselves and the honoree.

Not a bad idea. I went to a baby shower where the game was actually designed so that the mother would win adn it was a pampering set for her. I thought it was really a great idea!
