Resist the Advertising

Today’s weight loss message is especially for brand new mothers who are fewer than 6 weeks postpartum.
It is a bad time of year to have a flabby belly. The diet industry and the gyms are storming the air-ways with advertising in the hopes of capturing the new year’s resolution crowd! Resist it, oh new mother. Don’t even get on a scale until you are 6 weeks postpartum. It is too soon in your nursing career for a commercial diet, gyms are too crowded in January for a newborn to adjust to the crêche, and your body needs some gentle treatment.
The best place for you to exercise, for now, is at home. If you really can’t motivate yourself try a postpartum exercise class run by a midwife, maternity nurse or one classified as “safe” by your clinic. Remember, most weight loss initiatives undertaken in January fail by March. You cannot afford to be in that group.
Try to resist the hype and listen to your body instead.

Great suggestions. I think people, especially women, think about their weight and dieting far too much. For a woman to worry about her weight so soon after giving birth isn’t worth it.
