Routine, routine, routine

Getting the kids to bed and asleep, is all about routine. So says a follow-up to an article in the Globe and Mail that I blogged last week. Between this article, comments from Jill, and personal experience, I am convinced that every child should eat dinner, shut off the TV, turn down the lights, bath, brush, books, bed, kiss, sleep. For little babies the routine is even easier: bath, clean pyjamas, clean diaper, nurse, cuddle, bed. My 4-month-old likes to play with her Baby Whoozit as she falls asleep and my 3 year-old likes to take another look all by himself at the pictures of the book Catch Me, Catch Me! A Thomas the Tank Engine Story or any other Thomas story we’ve just read. Who am I to interfere with their own comfort-devices as part of the routine?
Bedtime is getting much, much easier.
