Secret Santa for a Liberal Out of Water

In her entry for the Generous December Group Writing Project, Liberal Out of Water wrote about a comprehensive support organization for women and children fleeing domestic violence in Colorado. TESSA helps women and children escape physical or sexual abuse by providing them with a safe place to stay and programs to help them start new lives.
Liberal Out of Water wrote:
- This Colorado Springs agency is dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence rebuild their lives – and they have so many solid programs suited to this worthwhile goal. I’m not just talking the women and children here, folks…they even have a program to help foster the pets of abused women and children while they’re getting back on their feet. (Did you know that sometimes a woman stays in abusive situations for fear of what will be done to a beloved pet if it is left behind? It’s true.)
After reading that, I knew it was time to call Santa. As in, secret. And there was only one secret Santa for this job.
Mom Gadget was up for the job. Written by the great Gayla McCord, Mom Gadget is a guide to the gadgets and gizmos that help parents work from home effectively. In addition to being a dedicated family woman who supports women and children in all that they do, Gayla is an animal lover whose family would never be complete without their pets.
That’s why Mom Gadget agreed to be a Generous December Secret Santa. Inspired by Liberal Out of Water’s post, Gayla made a $30 donation to TESSA.
We all hope it makes for a merrier Christmas for families who need our help.

Thanks for inviting me to participate
It was nice to do something like this, especially during the holidays. Although it shouldn’t take the holidays to feel the pleasures of sharing and helping others out.
Thanks for putting the G in Generous December, Gayla.
Kate and Gayle, thank you so much for your kindness to TESSA! I’m truly grateful for your goodness to this wonderful organization which does great work and brings hope into many lives. You’re both wonderful, special women!
Thanks for saying sweet things about us Deirdre. And thank you for telling us about TESSA.
