Stacking Up

Inside Fatherhood recently asked how our kids stack up to the cube whiz kid.

Well, ahem, my 4 year-old son is a linguistic genius.

Thanks to Dora and her cousin Diego, he’s recently fallen in love with the Spanish language. We’ve done nothing to encourage this interest. We speak three languages in our daily lives and life is complicated enough.

We do however, have this sticker book where kids can learn Spanish words by matching the milk sticker with la leche. He wanted to play with it the other day and I helped him a little reluctantly, his father’s concern that both his Bulgarian and German suffered while we were in Canada echoing in my ears.

“Mommy, is that Spanish?” my son asked.

“Is what Spanish? This book?”

“Sí, el libro,” he confirmed.
