The mother that left her newborn baby inside a hotel room this past May is now going to jail for one year. Tara Anderson, the mother that abandoned, errr left her child, was charged with

reckless endangerment. She has claimed since the day police found her that she never abandoned her newborn, she just hid in a bathroom when she knew cops were coming and she was wanted. Tara was also addicted to cocaine at the time of her daughter’s birth, however she is trying to get clean and wants to work on getting her baby back.

Judge Jacques Leroy lamented over the tragic nature of the story, including the grip that drug addiction had on Anderson, who promised to get clean.

“It’s such a sad story. Anyone who has ever held a baby knows how sad it is,” Leroy said.

in the room next door listening. Ummm, this does not mean anything. Am I right?

This newborn was left, by herself in the middle of a bed with umbilical cord attached, blood everywhere and not a single person in the room. The story gets worse too, before giving birth she actually had oral sex with a guy the night before and right before that smoked cocaine before that. Later she gave birth, the crying of the baby is why the police were called.

Anderson and a “John” met in a West Springfield motel room. “There the defendant smoked crack cocaine, not with the John, but by herself. She then had oral sex twice with the John.

She got spooked though when she knew the police would come because she has a warrant out for her arrest. So that’s when she hid in the hotel room next door and waited.

“The person in the adjacent room heard the child crying. West Springfield police were alerted, they saw a child lying in the bed with the umbilical cord and placenta on the sheets.”

Anderson has been charged with infant abandonment and reckless endangerment. But Anderson’s court-appointed attorney, Stephen Newman, says the facts are being misconstrued. He says she hid in a motel room next door until she knew the baby was safe. He says someone was always with the baby. “She was in the area at all times, someone was in the area at all times,” said Newman.

“She said she could hear the baby was fine, could hear the police say they were taking her to Baystate Medical so she knew the baby was being cared for,” said Newman.

What do you think of all this? I do believe she abandoned the baby, she wasn’t in the room and even after the news got the story she wasn’t going forward. What about a father? There’s still no news of him.

A Friend of Mother of Abandoned Baby Speaks

A male friend of the mother that abandoned her baby in a hotel room is speaking out on the mother’s behalf. He claims she did the right thing so she wouldn’t get arrested. Ummm, I’m still not convinced leaving the newborn is/was the right thing. You read what CBS3 found out:

“I’m the one that gave birth to her baby. I was there from first to last and know she didn’t abandon the baby,” said Julio Reyes. He was with her when she gave birth to a baby girl Friday night at the Welcome Inn, in West Springfield.

“She left it with someone responsible, but I can’t say who.”

He says Anderson has been staying with him in Holyoke since just after she gave birth. Reyes says she didn’t go to police because she already had a warrant out for her arrest. “All I know is she did what was right for her not to get into trouble,” said Reyes. But it is not what was right for her newborn, as police charged her with infant abandonment and reckless endangerment. She did not resist when police arrested her Thursday morning. “Police came, knocked on the door, I thought it was a friend. I let them in and they arrested her.”

What do you think? Could the warrants have also prevented her from giving birth in a hospital? The baby is reportedly in good condition.

Update on Newborn Baby Found in Box

There’s been a slight update on the Florida baby girl that was found in a box, the police have now released her picture. Poor thing, you can see where the ants were biting her.

One of my readers asked what she looked like here is the information from the web:

baby girl, 3-7 days old, 7lb 9 oz, white.

The little girl was found inside a QVC box on the sidewalk wrapped in a yellow blanket and wearing a onesie. This all took place on the southeast corner of Northwest 17th Street and 24th Avenue, just west of the Lillian Bryant Recreation Complex. So far it sounds like no one (not even the community) has named this little angel. I like Lillian since she was found near Lillian Bryant.

Remember this little girl did nothing wrong, she did not deserve to be put out on the street left for the ants to crawl all over her and cars to drive by. She was found crying and probably very scared, even if she was less than a week old.

Help Me: Who Am I?

Please head over and check out this baby’s picture. Look at that adorable little face.

This little guy was found abandoned in Franklin County, Columbus Ohio. They believe he was born sometime around October 2008. Isn’t he precious? He looks so healthy too, at least now, not sure how he looked when he was found. He was found at a North Side home but that’s the only details I’ve found. They also think he might be Latino but aren’t sure.

He was left at someone’s house and after the couple didn’t pick him up, three days later the man reported it. He’s been in the Children’s service’s care since Jan 13th. Currently, since he has no family that has come forward to say he can be adopted he’s at the back of that list. Very sad for this little guy, he deserves a home. Right now he does have a foster family. But it could take an entire year before he gets a stable/permanent home, or longer if people just want new babies.
