Ohio Zoo Names Elephant

The Ohio Zoo requested all zoo visitors to help name their baby elephant and they did.  I wrote about this a few weeks back and thought it was a cute little story and the fact they were allowing the visitors to actually name the new little elephant was even better. The names have been added up and a winner was decided.

The new name of the cute little guy (sorry I don’t have a picture of the exact elephant) is…..BECO. Yep, I got that one right. What were you hoping for? As an extra the zoo also gave free admission to mothers on Mother’s Day.

Top 10 Baby Names for 2009

The one thing that can get a soon-to-be mom or dad in an argument is baby names. Either one person doesn’t like it, they can’t find one, time is getting closer, family members don’t like it, someone has something to say or would like a name. Either way it is also fun to look at baby names and here is the top 10 baby names for 2009. Is your child’s name on the list? Mine aren’t, but mine aren’t very common either.

Adolf Hitler Removed from Parents

January 19, 2009 by Eliza Ferree

New developments in the case of Adolf Hitler Campbell not getting a birthday cake, it now seems the state decided to take him and his sisters from his parents. Why? No one knows just yet, but so far it seems to be all over the names the kids have. I’m sorry but if that is the only reason that is WRONG!

I noticed this when it first happened but wasn’t sure why so I didn’t even blog it, but it is now on SuperNannyRules:

Adolf Hitler Campbell and his sisters, JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell, were taken from their Holland Township, N.J., home on Friday by the state’s Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS), Sgt. John Harris of the Holland Township Police Department told FOXNews.com.

Some believe the name (even if it is to start fear or hatred) is reason enough to take a child away. Others do not, here is what some are stating.

“I doubt that the name alone would be enough to trump the First Amendment interests that the parents have, but if it were coupled with other things, it could be a factor that tells us that society has a legitimate reason to intervene with regard to the children.” –  Rod Smolla, Dean of Washington & Lee Law School.

But some people in the town have also spoken up, one being in the police department.

Baby Denied a Birthday Cake

A baby that just turned 3-years-old was refused a supermarket made cake when his parents went to order him one. You’ll never guess why and no it wasn’t because they wanted to put a baby picture of him on it. Instead it was all over his name.

Yep, due to this 3-year-old having a name his parents gave him he will now have issues the rest of his life. At least with this supermarket and making birthday cakes and I’m sure many other places. See the little boy’s name is: Adolph Hitler  Campbell.

The store not making this tiny tot a birthday cake happens to be ShopRite. The child’s father, Heath, has already been hitting back in interviews and around the web. He admits the name drives at some but he says we must look forward not back and accept change. He states his son isn’t going to become Hitler and do what he did.

This isn’t their only child and I imagine they will come to similar situations as they grow older: JoyceLynn Aryan Nation and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie.  Heath said they named their children names no one else in the world would.

Do you think ShopRite should’ve made the cake?

UPDATE ON CAKE: I just read here, that it seems the name wasn’t the only thing asked for. I can totally get ShopRite denying it now. I mean writing the name is one thing I was shocked about, but when I read they asked the baker to put a swastika in the center. Yeah, okay sorry folks but looks like there was a reason. Just a name wasn’t good enough but seems there was more to it.

Karen Meleta, a spokeswoman for ShopRite, said the Campbells had similar requests denied at the same store the last two years and said Heath Campbell previously had asked for a swastika to be included in the decoration.

Does Your Baby have a Domain Name?

Many celebrities purchase the domain names of their soon-to-be-child before they are born. I’m sure even Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have already purchased Emme and Max’s domain names. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes purchased little Suri’s sites as quickly as possible. One reason celebrities do this is so no one makes money off their children’s names, as we know many will probably do if they weren’t purchased.

So, here’s the question, does your child have a domain name? I haven’t purchased my children’s names yet but I do plan on it. But when I do I’ll probably go through godaddy.com since I have bought other domain names through them before.

Here’s a gift idea: Either as a gift to your child or someone else’s find out if they have a domain, if not purchase it for them. I guarantee you’ll be the only one to give them that gift.
