Whether he was premature or right on time one thing is for certain and that’s the fact that he was definitely not stopping, even though the plane was headed to Salt Lake City, they had to do a detour to Denver instead.

The Examiner reports:
A passenger who was eight months pregnant was seated in the row in front of Dr. John Saran, an internal medicine specialist working at Edward Hospital in Naperville, Illinois. The good doctor hadn’t delivered a baby since medical school 30 years earlier. In fact, he was dozing off, probably dreaming about his family’s ski holiday in Utah, when he was shaken awake by his wife, who had heard the pilot ask if there was a doctor on the flight. He remembers her saying frantically, “John, wake up, wake up, you’ve got to help deliver this baby!” It wasn’t a dream.

According to news reports it took about 15 minutes, the family was in the back of the plane with mom laying on the floor. There were actually two nurses and a doctor on board, I’m unsure whether they were part of the staff or just passengers, either way she was very lucky to have them all there. Since deliveries don’t normally happen on airlines they weren’t entirely prepared, when the baby was born someone took their shoelace out to help tie the umbilical cord off. Once the plane landed they were met by an ambulance where it took mom and baby immediately to the hospital.

TIPS: For those that may not know, most doctors (if not all) will advise you not to board a plane in between 32-40 weeks.

This has made me wonder if babies don’t have some type of thing where they think they are the only ones. I mean obviously they learn there are others out there, but NOT others in your home. Any picture of a younger child is a picture of them, any picture of a sibling that doesn’t look like they do now is not them. Could this be because they haven’t seen a sibling’s looks change? Possibly. Even if you have a small chronicalogical (sp) album of just the baby and let him/her flip through it they will not believe.

The above picture is Little A looking at SoccerBoy’s picture album. He got really into it and took over an hour looking at the pictures.

I went around the web looking for placing/items that actually supported or donated to the cause.

IMG: Sxc.hu

You can also visit Susan G. Komen site and read stories about those that have had breast cancer, those that have lost a loved one from it to finding out how you can support the cause.

Currently Plain Mary is actually donating 20% of all proceeds for those that purchase anything from her pink pages. Hurry on over, there’s stuff like: embroidered burp clothes, mini suitcases. Here’s the link that shows all items that can be purchased for the cause. Plain Mary Donates 20% of proceeds to Breast Cancer Awareness.

The pink Baby K’tan baby carrier will donate $1 to breast cancer awareness for every one sold. These, for those that don’t know are front carriers for your little babies.

BrightStarts will donate a portion of their proceeds to Breast Cancer Awareness. For those that don’t know they have a ton of baby products such as bouncers, playmats and toys, it states any of the toys in pink that are purchased will be donated to the cause. (not the toys but money from it) BrightStarts donates to Breast Cancer Awareness.

DaysAGo is also giving 10% of all sells of the pink ones to Breast cancer awareness. I added this because these caps are great to add to the top of baby food to tell you how long they’ve been in the fridge for those of us that tend to forget.

Now I know as moms of babies we tend to forget about ourselves so here are a few just for moms that still donate to the cause:

Pouchee is donating $1 for every Breast Cancer LTD Edition Cotton pouchee sold for this month. This pouchee is a great gift idea for a mom that has a ton of running around to do or the one that has more than one kid in more than one thing. The pouchee looks like a wallet from the outside and a big enough purse to put a book, phone, small toys, change, etc inside. So it is perfect for the on-the-go mom. Pouchee donates $1 per bag sold.

Eco Child’s Play has a post full of baby toys that have companies that will donate to breast cancer awareness, check them out. Dandelion Organic Baby Toys for Breast Cancer Awareness

10 Things Parents of Newborns Don’t Want to Hear

- Your baby looks funny
- What’s wrong with your baby?
- Your baby doesn’t look like you at all.
- That the baby has colic
- That they will never sleep again
- That sex is gone, never to happen again.
- That you hope their child is just like they were.
- Your baby has no hair.
- That’s not the way to do it.
- I’m going to be here every day.

Yes, while these may seem harmless to you they may not be to the parent. I mean who wants to hear their child looks funny or doesn’t even look like them. Men especially hate to hear the child doesn’t look like them, sometimes they begin to wonder themselves once this is pointed out. Finally, while you may love the baby to death the parents aren’t going to want you there every second of the day, not even if your grandparents. Be sure of what they are wanting and how they are feeling before you make any comments.

IMG: Sxc.hu

Sure you can toss on the blankets, however babies really like to feel secure and swaddling them is one of the most recommended ways. Now have you tried wrapping your baby in that perfect way the nurses seemed to do it every time they brought you him or her and you just can’t do it? Not to worry, here are a few steps I’ve learned along the way.

Steps to Swaddle Your Baby

1. Grab a blanket and try it on a doll or a stuffed animal.

2. Lay the blanket in a diamond and take the top corner and fold it until meets just above the center. Make sure there is enough room at the bottom to bring it up to your baby’s center. Your baby’s neck (doll or stuffed animal) should be right at the center of the fold.

3. For a real baby bend their arms just slightly and take one side and tuck it under the baby.

4. Take the bottom portion of the blanket and bring it up to the baby

5. With the other side do the same step as #3 but in the opposite direction. Make sure the baby feels snug, otherwise they can wiggle right out.

Keep in mind that even though the cold months are approaching fast you should make sure to overheat your baby. I hope that helps and here is a quick video that I found by Momlogic to show you how it is done. (I’m hoping to get my own videos to work on this computer to show you things in the future.

With school starting up you are sure to start seeing all those Fall outfits hitting the shelves and even if you don’t have a child entering the school system you may

IMG: Greggy Girls

want to hit the stores for those deals. If you are a first time parent you are probably wondering what all you may or may not need. Am I right? Sure, it can get a little confusing going from a simple onesie during the summer to how much clothing do I put on him/her.

I know with my first I just loved the little button up sleepers, it went everywhere and with just about any weather. Some would tell me I needed to add to his sleeper, others would say it was simply too much just having a sleeper on him. I still love sleepers and I think I always will. But I know parents also like to spice up the outfits, especially for those have a little one walking, so here are a few things your baby may need this fall.

10 Fall Clothing Items for Your Baby

- beanies
- sweater jackets or vests
- blue jean jackets
- leggings (leg warmers, my favorite is BabyLegs)
- pants or long shorts
- scarves
- tennis shoes
- boots
- sweaters
- long sleeved buttoned shirts/blouses

Little boys and girls, not to mention even older ones can pass off the layered look which not only saves on those expensive three piece outfits but also looks adorable.

Girls Layered Look: First, you will need a long sleeve shirt (thermal) and pants or my favorite, BabyLegs (leggings). Second, grab their favorite printed tee and toss it over. That’s it, it is that simple and you already have that adorable little girl to make the look work for her. You now have a cute, three piece look that would’ve cost a fortune but only cost you a few bucks. Try buying a three piece outfits at the store for this price.

Boys Layered Look: For the boys it gets a bit easier, grab a pair of jeans and a long sleeve thermal shirt. Toss over a t-shirt and you’ve got them a quick look that keeps them warm. It doesn’t matter that the thermal had a stain on it mom, no one will ever know.

If either look makes them still look like they need a bit of warmth a scarf over the neck or a beanie on top of their head should keep them nice and toasty. Just think if they get too hot you can always take off the t-shirt/tee or the beanie/scarf. Course if all else fails grab a sleeper. Can you think of some cute fall ideas for a baby?

Does your child ever run to stop someone from upsetting another or is he/she one of the ones causing it? I’ve seen both types. Course there is also the shy one that just ignores all things around them. What type of baby do you have?

The usual tempo for the hospital is about 20 bundles of joy a day.

The hospital is use to having 20 babies being born a day but never 74 in two days. They even had to open up the east wing after one was filled to capacity (60 beds).

This will be my son’s first true Memorial Day, for us this is a big day as we’ve always taken the kids down to the cemetary to remember those that were lost. As many of you are aware we are a military family, I always was growing up (dad was Air Force and then I married a Marine) and we got out of the Marine Corps a bit ago but joined the Army Reserves. However, none of that will ever change the way we feel about Memorial Day. We began taking the kids to the cemetary when they began asking questions and when our oldest told us it was a day (the teacher told him) that everyone has a picnic. This disgusted us and we explained.

Out here they don’t have an area just for the fallen soldiers so we’ll just walk over to our local cemetary and give respect. Already though this town has surprised us.

IMG: Sxc.hu

We drove by earlier today and my son (age 2) pointed out all the flags in the sky, course he kept calling them balloons. Every few bars on the top of the iron-gated fence had a flag at the top of it and throughout the entire cemetary little flags were scattered around. I can’t wait to start bringing this tradition to him and teaching him what we taught the other three kids. I hope he comes to respect this day like the others have.

They’ve already named her Moody too, but not because of her mood, the officer that found her is Bradley Moody. I think it’s fitting and who knows she may grow moody. They soon discovered she was very malnourished, but now that she is at the center we can all rest knowing they’ll take proper care for her.
