Jaeli Still Needs Breastmilk

Jaeli Still Needs Breastmilk

Earlier this month it was announced on both Facebook and Twitter that a newborn baby was born with a very rare eating disorder. There was a shout-out for anyone willing to help.
What was it? Baby Jaeli was allergic to just about anything she could eat and would need a supply of breastmilk, but her mother couldn’t supply the amount needed.
Facebook and Twitter jumped up to the cause letting everyone know about the situation and it has now been announced that 60 complete strangers have donated breastmilk. By the way, it costs $4.25 per ounce of breastmilk from the Human Milk Banking Association …read more

Restaurant Fined: Fired Breastfeeding Mom

Restaurant Fined: Fired Breastfeeding Mom

An LA Restaurant was recently fined for firing an employee that breastfed her baby during hebreaks. As you can imagine this did not go over very well with the community of breastfeeding moms or the legal department.
Jesus Acosta, the owner of Acosta Tacos, has been fined $46,000 for firing Marina Chavez. She sued him for emotional suffering and lost pay. Keep in mind the only thing that she got fired for was actually feeding her baby during her breaks. I could understand if this was done while working but not on a break.
This isn’t the only problem …read more

Drunk Breastfeeding Mom Goes to Jail

Drunk Breastfeeding Mom Goes to Jail

You might remember the case about a breastfeeding mother that got arrested just last February.  Stacey Anvarinia, age
27, was breastfeeding when police showed up to her home for a domestic disturbance. At the time Stacey Anvarinia was found “extremely intoxicated,” slurring her words and breastfeeding her baby. Her infant was only 6-weeks-old at the time. The judge at that point gave her a 6 month sentence where she would need to go to a substance abuse facility to clean up.  In June she admitted to being guilty of the charges. Many moms were outraged that she was even put behind …read more

It’s Breastfeeding Awareness Month

August is breastfeeding awareness month and for the month of August I think we should chit chat about
breasts and breastfeeding. What do you think? I know not all of us have breastfed our children, some couldn’t and some chose not to do it, for whatever reason we’ve it doesn’t matter … we’ve all heard of it. For myself, I have serious stories and not so serious and sometimes comical stories. I’m sure some of you all do too and I’d like to hear them. On posts that I write “Breastfeeding” in I hope that you join me or if you’d rather …read more

Your Baby’s Weaning Reaction

Your Baby’s Weaning Reaction

I’ve had four children, all four were breastfed and weaned. Yes I can say each one has their own story on how they finally ended their breastfeeding days. Some weren’t so nice to mommy whilethers just made her feel bad, only two would give it up on their own with no fighting me. I think the first and last were the hardest to wean, I’m not sure if that’s because one was a first and last baby. What were the reactions of your children when it came time to wean?
With my first I ended up with two bad cases …read more

Kentucky Reader: Can Wife Pump at Work?

Kentucky Reader: Can Wife Pump at Work?

A reader wrote in the comments asking other Babylune readers if they knew the Kentucky breastfeeding laws. Apparently his wife has gone back to work but they aren’t very supportive of breastfeeding.
Here’s some quick info I did find on Kentucky and Breastfeeding:
- Forty-three states, the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands have laws with language specifically allowing women to breastfeed in any public or private location.
- Twenty-eight states, the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands exempt breastfeeding from public indecency laws
- Twelve states and Puerto Rico exempt breastfeeding mothers from jury duty
I did notice that …read more

Mother Charged for Breastfeeding Drunk

Mother Charged for Breastfeeding Drunk

A 26-year-old mother was just charged for breastfeeding her 6-week-old baby while severely intoxicated this past February. Stacey Anvarinia, the mother, was definitely intoxicated when police arrived at her home for a domestic situation, but what they surprised them was the fact she was breastfeeding her newborn in that state of mind.
Even the La Leche League states that you should NOT breastfeed your baby while intoxicated and that you should wait until you are sober. Currently it is unknown what her blood alcohol level was and even if she was drunk. The assistant state’s attorney, Carmel Mattison has stated this …read more

Breastfeeding Mom Gets Apology from Denny’s

Remember last week when I posted about the Breastfeeding mom in Denny’s that was kicked out? Well Crystal (the mom) was going to stage a protest, which she did, if they hadn’t heard back from Denny’s before the 21st or 22nd. Yesterday was the big day and lots of moms braced the cold to stand in front with their signs and babies.
Rick Pate, the regional director of Denny’s, was there to meet Crystal. He apologized to her if she, as a Denny’s patron, was offended by the way she was treated.
So I guess all ends well, not …read more
