One of the first articles I blogged in this space was a Diaper Daze column by Erin Hawkins who writes for the Toronto Star.
The final installment of the column is up on the newspaper’s site today. Her baby has turned one and she signs off by writing about the experience of greeting some very tired-looking new parents and telling them, “I know it seems overwhelming right now, but things start to settle down once you get past the first three months.”

Angelina, congratulations. I am sure your baby girl is just beautiful. Possibly not as lovely as mine, but what can you do? I know, I haven’t congratulated any of the other celebrity mothers of recent months, but you’re different. I know you actually read the briefs the UN sends you before you go out to help people. Your heart is obviously bigger than your lips.
So, if you have any problems with any postpartum discomforts, sore nipples, overstretched abs, work-life balance or a new fashion crisis, don’t worry.
You’re just another woman, another new mother leaking lochia like the rest of us. …read more
