Did you know that a good majority of pregnant women will ignore most nutritional facts that are on a food item/drink? Sometimes they’ll even ignore the doctors orders?

IMG: Sxc.hu

Okay, so not many are shocked by this. There shouldn’t be, according to a survey done by Pregnancy.org 80% pregnant women ignore important nutritional advice.

Real quickly though, before we get into the survey there is a magazine offer for you: In November Pregnancy.org is offereing a 10% discount on the vitamins by using the coupon code PREG10 during checkout and all orders this month will receive a free copy of the film Being Dad USA, valued at $24.95.

400 pregnant women took part in this survey, which once again was done by Pregnancy.org. Over half admitted to having a very poor diet and bad exercise, let alone none took their pre-natals. I must ask now, how many of you took your pre-natals while you were pregnant? Why? I was actually told by my doctor not to take them, instead to take Flinstone vitamins.

The survey goes on to state:
- 61% don’t take a pre-natal vitamin daily as they feel it makes them more nauseous
- 55% did not seek expert advice on which pre-natal vitamin was suitable for them
- Over 25% of respondents admitted to consuming alcohol, cigarettes or caffeine
- Folate and Iron are the most sought after vitamins/minerals in a pre-natal vitamin but over 50% respondents don’t know what foods naturally contain them
- When asked what they look for in a pre-natal vitamin price was considered more important than absorption rates or ingredient quality
- 80% don’t change their pre-natal vitamin formula from pre-conception to breastfeeding

To get more information on vidtamins or vitamin supplements you may want to try getting a hold of the message boards at http://www.pregnancy.org and find out if anyone has suggestions on how you can get your vitamins even if you can’t handle them.

An Ohio woman got the wrong embroyo implanted in her and now must give the baby up her little boy to the biological parents once he is born.

Carolyn Savage, age 40, recently found out that the baby she had finally got pregnant with was not actually her baby, but a mix up. Her husband, Sean, said it was the worst news of their life. They had to quickly make a decision in regards to the little life growing inside of her, either terminate the pregnancy or give the baby back to the biological parents. Keep in mind this was never the fault of Carolyn or Sean, they had only got pregnant.

MSNBC reports:

‘I have bad news’
Sean remembers being told in a phone call at work. Stunned, he went home to tell Carolyn.

“I was upstairs in my bedroom and he came to the door and said, ‘I have really bad news,’ ” she recalled. Then came the news: “You’re pregnant, but they transferred the wrong embryo.”

Carolyn remembers saying, “You’re joking, you’re joking, you’re joking.” But when she looked at her husband, she knew it was true. “He was white as a sheet,” Carolyn said.

The pregnancy has been without complication, but it’s been anything but easy.

“It’s been hard,” Carolyn told Vieira. “We’ve been rooting for the baby the whole time. We moved from a position of shock to a realization that this was actually going to happen. We needed to put the needs of the pregnancy and the child first. It’s just been difficult, but we feel we made the right decisions on how to handle it.”

My heart goes out to Carolyn and Sean, I’m sure saying goodbye to the little boy will be the hardest thing they will ever have to do.

Yesterday I posted a story during the blog-off about 17 teen girls that made a pregnancy pact to get pregnant this school year.

Currently the police are trying to find out who the 17 fathers are and determine if any will be charged. While the world may be in shock I can only imagine the parents of these teens and the possible boys that had no clue.

To me, pregnancy is something that you are suppose to enjoy. It’s a gift and something that should be treasured. But for these 17 girls that just “wanted to raise a baby together” have changed that. Not only that I can’t help but wonder if these 17 boys knew they were planning this.

Imagine the boys being told that the girl was on birth control pills or the shot. Or maybe used a condom but she poked holes in it, etc. If these girls were this determined I wonder if they tried having sex with others to get pregnant and if that is the case how will they be able to prove who the father is.

Right now there are many pointing to the 24-year-old homeless man that got one of the girls pregnant. I am all against rape, but this really doesn’t sound like it.

I really do hope this is fair and not a witch hunt for the boys. Remember people it was a pact these girls made, they fully intended to get pregnant. What’s your thoughts?

What’s that mean? Well it deals with getting pregnant, so everything else comes after.

Okay in the news apparently a huge group of teens decided to make a pregnancy pact. Can you believe this?

There are 17 pregnant girls that go to Gloucester High School that all took a pregnancy pact with one another. When a local high school clinic realized the trend they began looking into it, especially when some seemed down about not being pregnant. This is where the story got interesting and the news picked it up.

The town is torn by what is really going on, some believe the girls made a pact. Others, like Mayor Carolyn Kirk, believes it just happened because the town’s been declining and their are no health classes.

What will happen to these 17 girls that are pregnant? Do they all have support? A future? You also have to look at who is the father? Does he want to be a part of his baby’s life? If he’s older will he be charged? There are many questions I’m sure the town will try to figure out in the next few months. Are these teens following recent movies and movie stars like, Juno or Jamie Lynn Spears?

An advocacy group is trying to get the J&J birth control patch banned. Why? The patch is supposedly increasing women’s risk to get blood clots and they’ve formed a petition. Would you sign in?

For those that may not know, a birth control patch is very thin and beige (not sure if they are in different colors or not) but they stick right on to your skin and get into your blood system and help to prevent you from getting pregnant. The patch is left on for one week and then on the same day you must put it on again, which is better than having to remember to swallow a pill every night.

The FDA however has come back to argue that the risk of blood clots is great is not the case and a blood clot is possible but low. They even stated, “For every 10,000 women who use hormonal contraceptives for one year, some three to five of them will develop a clot.” Now not all birth control patches are risky, apparently Ortho Evra is safe and very effective. Honestly I haven’t use the patch so I would have no idea.

The manufacturer said Ortho Evra was safe and effective when used according to directions.

The patch has risks and benefits like all hormonal contraceptives, and the product label “has always stated the known risks associated with its use,” said Gloria Vanderham, a spokeswoman for Ortho Women’s Health and Urology, the Johnson & Johnson unit that makes the product.

Still, about 2.7 million prescriptions were written for the patch last year, keeping it among the top 200 brand-name drugs sold in the United States, according to data cited by the petition. More than 9.9 million prescriptions were written in 2004.

Now Ortho’s patch was develop because many would miss a pill and get pregnant. With the patch you don’t need to worry about that. Anyone out there using the patch or has used that patch that has either dealt with getting pregnant using it or developing blood clots?

So, ladies and gentlemen you really can predict the birth of your baby.

By eating a banana you are ensuring a little boy, or any other high in calories food items. If you are eating a more restricted diet though you can count on a girl.

So which old wives tales are myth or fact?

eating a banana will make a boy- true
drinking milk makes a girl- false
skipping breakfast makes a girl- true
eating sweets makes a girl- false (if you eat tons of sugar, that is high calories)

Now according to the research there were 740 expecting mothers that didn’t know their child’s sex that they kept a record of what they ate. Those that ate tons of high in calorie food items predicted the sex would be correct and got it right.

What do you think of the research? Do you believe they created the sex of their child? In my honest opinion I think if they had NOT been pregnant and doing the high calorie or low calorie and then got pregnant would’ve been more believeable. However, they were already pregnant, baby was already being created. But this is just me and I’m no scientist.

After reading some of the recent comments I’ve noticed that one subject is very hot in the babyworld and that is sex.
Feel free to vote for your response or add a new one. Don’t forget to come back and chat about it here. I for one have had many different experiences in this subject. My first child I made sure to follow orders and waited the 6 weeks like the doctor told me…actually it was probably 7 as I was scared. Second child, just waited the 6 weeks. Third child I went at my husband the first night I saw him, remember he had been in Iraq when our little girl was born. But with our 4th child, it seems I’m more scared now. I’m not afraid of sex but fear of getting pregnant. (more on that later)

What’s your thoughts? How long did you wait?

ABC News is looking for men that had postpartum depression after their baby was born. Some of you may not know it but it does happen in men as well as it does with women. All those thoughts that go through a female, can actually go through a man.
