Marysville Ohio a woman, Marie Davis, gave birth, however it would not be her name as mother on the birth certificate.

This other woman, Coriene Cooper, was the name on the birth certificate and would raise the child. That is until she would try suing John R. Knasel for child support after they split. But he knew the truth and while they raised the child together he knew the child was not only not his but not her child either. Should he pay support? Why or why not?

The case is now in court, so far Knasel plead not guilty, Coriene Cooper plead not guilty and Marie Davis has plead not guilty. Marie Davis, aka Marie Godwin is being charged for Medicaid fraud and tampering with records. Coriene Cooper, aka Coriene Ilse is being charged with Medicaid fraud, grant theft and 8 counts of tampering. Finally, Knasel is being charged with one count of tampering.

But now lets talk about that baby that has grown up and is now 16-years-old. Cheyenne Knasel probably has known since he was around 10 that his mother wasn’t really his mom and the story behind why the switch happened. By reading what he’s said to the press it sounds like he has a good heart and doesn’t fault either mother.

“My mom Coriene, was helping Marie out by helping take care of me when she couldn’t do it. And in my eyes, that’s not wrong. It’s like helping a friend,” Cheyenne said.

No news on what will happen with either lady or Knasel.

Just last year the women discovered that they may have been switched at birth, after DNA testing they discovered their fears were correct. How did they discover this? A woman that knew both mothers had suspicions all these years and finally said something.

Believe it or not, one mother, Majorie Angell, had insisted she’d been given the wrong child at birth but her feelings were brushed off. The two women finally met recently, hopefully they’ll be able to live with this and maybe become friends and share stories.

The difference this time was the color and one family is deeply disturbed by the events and I can totally understand why. In this case it was a caucasion baby and a half African American baby.

IMG: Sxc.hu (Not the baby)

The Portsmouth Hospital of New Hampshire had this to say:

“We deeply regret that this event occurred,” Notis said, “and we are continuing to work closely with and support the family involved. We launched a full investigation immediately after it occurred and are taking steps to avoid the occurrence of a similar event in the future.”

Why did no one say anything and how did they not notice? Apparently the breastfeeding mother, the one that actually did the feeding noticed the baby but thought the hospital staff would think she was crazy if she mentioned that this baby was not hers. So instead of saying anything she went ahead and fed the child. The baby’s parents are now getting it tested for HIV and Hepatitis C as it is possible to transfer the disease through breastmilk.

The father that is testing his child would like his family to remain anonymous, however he did go on television to tell about his story. Here’s what he said:

“We point blank asked her, ‘did you not know your were taking care of our baby?’ and her response was, ‘I thought it wasn’t my baby, but I didn’t want to sound crazy so I didn’t say anything,’” the man told television station WMUR.

What’s worse is this probably could’ve been prevented had they allowed the baby to stay in the room with the mother, but due to complactions after the birth she took a sleeping pill and they wouldn’t let her own mother stay in the room with her and the baby. They had to send their newborn out to the nursery, reluctantly and now they have to deal with this. There are two different accounts right now as how long the baby was in the other woman’s care, she stated a significant amount of time, the baby’s father states it took 10-20 minutes for the baby to latch on to mom during breastfeeding and the hospital staff is now saying only 5. Either way itwas enough to cause a tremendous amount of tension and break a lot of trust.

Hopefully they’ll hear that the baby is perfectly fine and that there are no other issues with the child.

One New York mom is claiming that exact thing happened and because she was switched another mother breast-fed her baby. Exactly how would you feel, knowing this happened to your baby?

IMG: Newscom

Here’s the story:

Shatiesha Brown gave birth to Anaya Victoria only four hours before another mother with the first initial S and last name Brown gave birth. Shatiesha had high blood pressure and just to make sure it went down they kept the newborn from her mother for the first 24 hours. Only problem, the newborn wasn’t alone or in the little nursery, instead she lay in the arms of another mother. A mother who was falling in love with her, breastfeeding her and taking tons of family photos with her. What’s wrong with that? It wasn’t her baby. Of course neither mother would know, at least not until after everything happened.

I’m not sure how they realized it, but when they discovered the mix-up they quickly fixed it. By the way, it was figured out after Anaya was 18 hours old. Some state it is because the two families were pointing out their newest family member and an argument broke out. But it was too late, when Shatiesha tried breastfeeding her baby, she rejected her mother’s milk. Why? She’d already been nursing and this was not the same. She now has to feed her baby formula and yes the family will be pressing this issue and sue the hospital.

How did this happen? No one knows, Anaya even had bracelets on to prevent a mix up.

Here’s a link to the video of the Baby Mix Up news release of it on ABC.
