My summer reading includes people who are not just like me. One of the problems with modern marketing is that everything is a niche market, like this blog. While I love reading the blogs of other mothers who are just like me, I read books to escape to other worlds, other kinds of lives.
And, I love reading about this world and people who live lives close to mine, have similar experiences and just see it all differently because of one key difference, like race.

<p>And, I love reading about this world and people who live lives close to mine, have similar experiences and just see it all differently because of one key difference, like race.<span id="more-800"></span></p>
<p>I just finished reading <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html%3FASIN=0684854821%26tag=babylune-20%26lcode=xm2%26cID=2025%26ccmID=165953%26location=/o/ASIN/0684854821%253FSubscriptionId=1N9AHEAQ2F6SVD97BE02"><em>Who Does She Think She Is</em> </a>and loved her introduction to the world of African American princesses and finding your true self. While I read my Terri McMillan and, sure, I know exactly <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html%3FASIN=0451209141%26tag=babylune-20%26lcode=xm2%26cID=2025%26ccmID=165953%26location=/o/ASIN/0451209141%253FSubscriptionId=1N9AHEAQ2F6SVD97BE02">How Stella Got her Groove Back</a>, I am really no expert in contemporary women&#8217;s fiction (ie Chick Lit) as interpreted by African American authors.</p>
<p>If this is a typical example of her novels, then I am going to start reading a lot more of the work of Benilde Little.  </p>
