The Fifth Healthy & Fit Family Carnival

Thanks to Thrifty Mommy for hosting the Fourth Healthy & Fit Family Carnival last week. It was definitely time for me to cut the umbilical cord on the Healthy & Fit Family Carnival. Not that I am not happy to have this baby back!
Our little carnival is really learning to walk! The posts this week contain truly practical tips for a healthy family life written in literate and entertaining ways that appeal to my writing snobbery.
Speaking of umbilical cords, women who experience common pregnancy complications are often at a greater risk of developing heart conditions later in life. My post explains how pre-eclampsia and gestational diabetes signal a risk that must be managed with a healthy diet and regular exercise.
Refrigerator Raid reminds us that fitness is fun. I love this post for reminding me that healthy & fit families play together.
Our Family Porch found some great vegetable recipes and Veggie Chic has a round up of veggie posts for the week.
Dr. Briffa talks about the impact of the much-welcomed partial ban on junk food advertising in the UK.
There is a mini-theme on coffee this week. Worldwide Success thinks we should just give it up while Sickle’s Insight explains just how decaffinated coffee gets that way. Breastfeeding1-2-3 says a little coffee and a little chocolate are OK for breastfeeding mothers.
Wisdom of Healing wonders if we should be taking medications for conditions that are just part of women’s lives.
OK, confession time. Those are the nine posts that appeal to my writing snobbery. I am a little bit sorry to be such a snob. Even though I want to discourage you from clicking on this link, I am going to include this post by rdoctor who keeps submitting to the carnival. I am not sure if his writing is bad because English just isn’t his language or if it’s because he’s not who (or what) he says he is. What do you think? Does he just have a poor grasp of English or is he a fraud?
The Sixth Healthy & Fit Family carnival (5 December) will be hosted by Our Family Porch and submissions are now open.
If you’re interested in hosting the carnival for 12 December, leave a comment below.

I don’t think English is rdoctor’s native language. But I honestly don’t think his writing is the worst I’ve ever seen. Plenty of native English speakers can’t communicate themselves at all.
And the link he submitted to the interview with Kim of emergiblog is interesting even if it doesn’t quite fit in the Healthy & Fit Family Carnival. Selecting which posts to include is your prerogative. No need to feel obliged to include a post for whatever reason.
Blog carnivals, in my opinion, should be a positive showcase for posts.
I don’t think it is the worst blog I have ever read, nor do I think his English is the worst I have ever read, but the mis-use of language (especially medical terms) combined with the layout of the blog and the lack of identifying information, the other blogs written from the same IP address, just makes me doubt s/he is really a medical doctor.
That said, I am still willing to wait and see if this person comes clean.
Thanks for including my post, Kate!
Thanks for including my post. I’m looking forward to hosting next week.
