Thinking the Body Positive

July 21, 2006 by kate baggott

OK. Enough whining. Time to think body positive.

Three things I love about my body after having children:

  • My hair, while often pulled back into a ponytail, is still long and curly and full despite all the strands that have fallen out due to hormonal changes.
  • My smile. The kids give me more reason to do it and, I think, it makes me more attractive.
  • My breasts. It’s like having milk-filled implants.

What have you got going on with your maternal body?

  1. Knowing my little one thinks I’m the most beautiful person on earth as he smiles when I enter a room even though I haven’t come close to losing the baby weight.

Have to agree with the boob thing. Instant uplift, when engorged that is! I now have cleavage for days.

Arms are toned like Madonna’s due to holding and lifting a 15 pounder. It’s like working out with a wieght all day though it’s not so good on the back, but I’m working my abs back into shape so the back isn’t so stressed.

  2. My poor sagging spreading body has never been the same. But it hardly matters when I look at the four glorious human beings that were once housed and fed and nurtured by it. What are droopy boobs and stretch marks compared with that?
Kate, technologically-challenged as I am, I just stumbled upon your blog today. Wish I’d found it earlier, but I’ve been having a great time scrolling back. Thanks, Andrea

Mama-feminista, I forgot about the arms! I’ve got great arms too.

Andrea, I hope you’ll come back some time.

Usually, body after having children becames more womanlike, more beautiful. But it already does not matter, because body beauty cannot compare to the happiness to have little kid for whom you are the most beautiful woman in the whole world, who make you smile and feel happy.
