Leah’s Body Bib Winner

One lucky reader won the Leah’s Body Bib, this contest got 21 entries, which kind of made me sad as I know I’ve seen more before. Leah handcrafted each item on her Etsy page and these adorable bibs go over the entire outfit so you never have to worry about a juice stain on that white t-shirt/white dress again.
The winner will need to contact me via email homemom3@gmail.com with your mailing address so I can get it out to her.  The winner of the contest was #14.

Jaeli Still Needs Breastmilk

Jaeli Still Needs Breastmilk

Earlier this month it was announced on both Facebook and Twitter that a newborn baby was born with a very rare eating disorder. There was a shout-out for anyone willing to help.
What was it? Baby Jaeli was allergic to just about anything she could eat and would need a supply of breastmilk, but her mother couldn’t supply the amount needed.
Facebook and Twitter jumped up to the cause letting everyone know about the situation and it has now been announced that 60 complete strangers have donated breastmilk. By the way, it costs $4.25 per ounce of breastmilk from the Human Milk Banking Association …read more

4 Month Old Denied Health Insurance

Alex Lange,  4-month-old baby, is being denied health insurance because at 17lb he is too fat.  While many doctors would be happy to see a chubby baby vs a baby that is too thin, this one is making the workers at Rocky Mountain Health Plans shake their heads.
No, can do. They will not support this little baby boy.
Okay, I know America is worried about the “fat children” but this is a 4-month-old little baby. Could this not be just those awkward months? I know my own children got fat during the first year and then evened out after their first …read more

5 Ways to Save Money with a Baby

5 Ways to Save Money with a Baby

Having a baby is one of life’s biggest blessings, but having a baby doesn’t mean breaking the bank.  There are many easy ways to save money.
1)  Don’t give into the hype.  Just walking down the aisles of a baby store is enough to give you a headache.  There are so many gadgets and gizmos out there.  Your baby doesn’t need all of that stuff.  Talk to friends and ask them which items were most beneficial to them.

2)  Shop used.  I’ve heard of some parents that won’t buy their children anything used and I really don’t understand why.  You can shop …read more

Restaurant Fined: Fired Breastfeeding Mom

Restaurant Fined: Fired Breastfeeding Mom

An LA Restaurant was recently fined for firing an employee that breastfed her baby during hebreaks. As you can imagine this did not go over very well with the community of breastfeeding moms or the legal department.
Jesus Acosta, the owner of Acosta Tacos, has been fined $46,000 for firing Marina Chavez. She sued him for emotional suffering and lost pay. Keep in mind the only thing that she got fired for was actually feeding her baby during her breaks. I could understand if this was done while working but not on a break.
This isn’t the only problem …read more

Drunk Breastfeeding Mom Goes to Jail

Drunk Breastfeeding Mom Goes to Jail

You might remember the case about a breastfeeding mother that got arrested just last February.  Stacey Anvarinia, age
27, was breastfeeding when police showed up to her home for a domestic disturbance. At the time Stacey Anvarinia was found “extremely intoxicated,” slurring her words and breastfeeding her baby. Her infant was only 6-weeks-old at the time. The judge at that point gave her a 6 month sentence where she would need to go to a substance abuse facility to clean up.  In June she admitted to being guilty of the charges. Many moms were outraged that she was even put behind …read more

It’s Breastfeeding Awareness Month

August is breastfeeding awareness month and for the month of August I think we should chit chat about
breasts and breastfeeding. What do you think? I know not all of us have breastfed our children, some couldn’t and some chose not to do it, for whatever reason we’ve it doesn’t matter … we’ve all heard of it. For myself, I have serious stories and not so serious and sometimes comical stories. I’m sure some of you all do too and I’d like to hear them. On posts that I write “Breastfeeding” in I hope that you join me or if you’d rather …read more
