There has still been no sighting of baby Shannon, however a babysitter, Susan Baker, has come to the media with proof that she wrote the Govenor earlier this year explaining that this little girl had drug abusing parents and that she loved her and didn’t want to see it destroy the baby’s life. Police are now looking into seeing if there is a possible link in the disappearance, especially if nothing was ever done.

What To Do When Mom Gets Sick

What To Do When Mom Gets Sick

When your baby is little you do everything you can to keep them from getting sick, some may even accuse you of taking your baby’s health safety a little too far.  The first time you hear Little Johnny caught pink eye you might ban him from playing with your son Sam just in case it gets back to your newest bundle of joy.
Or maybe Suzzie down the street got chicken pox and her mom asked if you’d babysit for her since she heard yours haven’t got sick yet. Yeah, that didn’t fly with me either. But what happens when you …read more

Keeping Babies Safe in a Swine Flu World

Keeping Babies Safe in a Swine Flu World

Parents who are nervous about having a five or six year old child when Swine Flu is on the rise could probably safely quadruple their feelings of fear and anxiety to understand how parents of babies under six months of age feel.
A new mom with a three month old child and two school age children probably summed it up best when she said, “I think it is very scary. I’m afraid to go outside.”

So what do new moms do to keep their babies safe?
* Screen friends. Ask the neighborhood kids if they feel sick before they come in to avoid …read more

Baby’s Voices Saves Mom in Coma

Baby’s Voices Saves Mom in Coma

I always love hearing the “happy ending” type of stories and I’m sure most of you do too, so here is one. Karen Morrisroe-Clutton, a new mother had been in a coma for 5 weeks when nothing seemed to be working.
She even states that she considered just giving up, that she wanted to die. This isn’t much of a surprise as I hear many that struggle with an illness such as this end up not wanting to suffer any longer.
DailyMail quotes Karen as stating:
‘I knew that I was dying,’ she said. ‘I confess that at one stage I gave up. …read more

Update on Fat Baby

Woo hoo, there has been an update on Alex Lange.  Alex is the little 4-month-old baby boy that was denied Health care because they thought he was a risk because he weighed a whopping 17lbs. They have now decided that he is no longer a risk and will be accepting him in the plan.
“A recent situation in which we denied coverage to a heavy, yet healthy, infant brought to our attention a flaw in our underwriting system for approving infants,” says Steve ErkenBrack, president and CEO, Rocky Mountain Health Plans.
“Because we are a small company dedicated to the people of Colorado, …read more

4 Month Old Denied Health Insurance

Alex Lange,  4-month-old baby, is being denied health insurance because at 17lb he is too fat.  While many doctors would be happy to see a chubby baby vs a baby that is too thin, this one is making the workers at Rocky Mountain Health Plans shake their heads.
No, can do. They will not support this little baby boy.
Okay, I know America is worried about the “fat children” but this is a 4-month-old little baby. Could this not be just those awkward months? I know my own children got fat during the first year and then evened out after their first …read more

Overweight Moms may cause Baby Heart Defect

Overweight Moms may cause Baby Heart Defect

Doctors and researchers have put together a new study that shows that overweight pregnant women may actually cause heart defects in their babies.  From my readings this isn’t just if someone becomes obese or overweight while pregnant but before they get pregnant
The CDC wrote:
United States finds that women who were overweight or obese before they became pregnant had an approximately 18 percent increased risk of having a baby with certain heart defects compared with women who were of normal body mass index (BMI) before they became pregnant.  Severely obese women had approximately a 30 percent increased risk, according to a study …read more

Valerie Post, the young mom that was placed in a coma due to the swine flu passed away Monday night.  She was only 24 years old when she was given an emergency c-section at 7-months after the doctors discovered she had contracted the swine flu.

No Exercise Could Mean a Big Baby

It has recently come out that those that are pregnant with a baby and do not exercise during the pregnancy may in fact have a big baby. Does this mean we are making our babies big or small?ome believe the answer is yes, while others still argue no. There are even arguments that the more you exercise the faster and easier the birth may be.
DoctorNDTV reports:
To study the association between regular exercise before and during pregnancy and excessive newborn birth weight, researchers analysed data from the Norwegian Mother and Child Cohort Study and the Medical Birth Registry of Norway …read more
