The tiny little baby has been name Oliviyanna, her other two siblings are: Oriyanna and Tayvanna and together they weighed less than 4 pounds.

Dad, 16-year-old Robert Page was too scared to hold them when he first saw them because they were so tiny. I think all parents feel like this but I can’t picture a baby that tiny. Today, she weighs a whopping 3lbs 2oz. I know this is a touchy time for these tiny three but Congratulations to the parents.

Dr.Stephane Marret has come forward and stated that it is important to know everything mom takes during her pregnancy can effect the baby inside. Of course some things mom takes, such as vitamins and apparently prenatual baby aspirin may actually benefit them.

Doctors sometimes recommend baby aspirin to pregnant women at high risk for certain complications. Marret and colleagues assessed the outcomes of 656 infants born prior to 33 weeks of pregnancy to 584 women with pregnancy-related complications, such as high blood pressure, or kidney or immune problems. A total of 125 of these women took low-dose (baby) aspirin for about 12 to 13 weeks while pregnant, the researchers note in the journal Pediatrics.

As always, before taking any type of medication you should always consult with your baby before doing it.

Among the infants in the study, rates of stillbirth, neonatal death, brain bleeding, and brain injury were similar in baby aspirin-exposed and non-exposed groups.

After allowing for other associated social and medical factors, the researchers likewise noted no neurological impairments associated with low-dose aspirin exposure among the 341 children available for physical, neurological, and psychological examination at the age of 5 years.

Actually, Marret and colleagues saw a trend toward lesser rates of behavioral impairment among the children exposed to low-dose aspirin. Just 12 and 7 percent of this group had hyperactive and conduct problems, respectively, compared with 23 and 14 percent of those not exposed.

Back in November Casey’s lawyers tried shifting the blame on Roy Kronk, the utility man that discovered little Caylee’s body last December. They were claiming he knew the body was there since at least August as there are records of him calling 9-1-1 to report the suspicious bag.  Course this could just show that not everyone was taking calls seriously and he wanted them to check it out.

This past week many decisions were handed down from the judge:

- Casey Anthony allowed to face death penalty

-  Casey’s parents haven’t visited her in over one year, according to what they told NBC, the reason was they were advised not to visit because everything that is done or said gets leaked to the media.

-    double jeopardy for fraud has been denied and the new court date is Jan. 25, 2010.

-  jailhouse tapes, videos, interviews will NOT be destroyed

 They look at the colorful pictures and oooh and ahh as each page is turned, some will be handed a book to grab and turn the pages, others will simply stare. There is one thing each little one has in common with one another, they are all under the age of 2 years old.

What? Babies in story hour? Yes, more and more libraries are recognizing that babies love to be read to and it also teaches them more about handling books, so they are starting programs for little babies. Now not all libaries will have it but many around the country do, all you have to do is ask. Who knows they could be meeting once a week and you’ve been missing out.

Here is some information on the baby program, “Library S.T.A.R“:

Library S.T.A.R. (Sure They Are Ready) is a training program designed for library professionals, but equally valuable for any organization whose work involves children 0-5, and their parents/caregivers.

For those that don’t know what to ask, call down and just ask if there is a “Baby Storytime.”  My local library has one for babies 9-18 months old they read short stories, sing nursery rhymes and finger puppets to delight the children. Others open their doors to babies as young as newborn to 24 months old and include music and smells. Either way this is a great experience for mom and babies, babies because it is teaching them young and moms because it gets mom to interact with others like herself.

A week ago Gisele Bundchen, the newlywed wife of Tom Brady, gave birth to the couples first child. While Tom may have already had a son and knew what to expect they still weren’t 100% sure of the name, well at least Gisele wasn’t.

Here’s what happened with Tom Brady and Gisele:

“It’s kind of back to the drawing board,” Brady, 32, said in an interview on WEEI Sports Radio. “We thought we had a name picked out for about six months and then about two days before he was born she said, ‘I don’t like that name anymore.’” 

According to People magazine, they did have a name picked out but as we all know once that baby is born the name may no longer fit.  So lets come up with a few ways to pick out some names, whether names have already been picked and just not decided on or not picked out at all.

Ideas for Baby Names:

-  Get a book: grab a baby naming book and thumb through names, you can go with the most popular, least popular or even the one that has a special meaning to you. Some have been known to name their children from the places they are conceived or born at: Dakota, Orlando, etc.

-  Let Your child decide: This one only works if you have a child before this current one is born. Ask them their pick on names and hope they pick something that is a real name and not just a sound.

-  Let Your Readers pick it: Believe it or not I have seen bloggers ask their readers to name their child and then as the due date gets clotser they begin voting from the top names.

-  Family tree: Shake the family tree and see which names fall out. Many times a family member would love to have a child named after them. I know I named my daughter after my grandmother, she was very touched. It is normally the men that get a child named after them, not always the woman.

-  Nickname: Pick a name that has a fun nickname, or do just the opposite and pick a name that does NOT have a nickname. My husband hates nicknames and named our children (or so he thought) names that didn’t have nicknames.

Games for the Final Decision:

-  Draw names: If both of you are at a stand still you cna toss all the names ya’ll like in a bowl and have mom (or dad) pull a name out for the first name.

-  Compromise: You can let mom or dad decide this child’s name as long as the other gets to name the next child. Or you could compromise and let one choose the first name and the other choose the middle name.

 When they make them they make two more halves, one for him then and one for his lunch. Don’t ask me he loves these instant meals.

Yesterday, the three had left barely any peanut butter left in the jar and on the table. Little A has been known to grab the jar, open it (not to worry it is plastic) and reach inside to get a taste. So when he did this time I didn’t stop him, instead I swooped him up and placed him in his high chair. I dropped a plate in front of him, a spoon and a piece of bread. He proceeded to put the butter all over the bread, now I had meant to put jelly on it but by the time I was going to he had given up on spreading it. He had the bread in pieces on his tray and was dropping them into the jar, stirring it and taking them out one by one and eating them. This was his way of making a sandwich. Got any stories to share with me?

TIP: Sometimes moms must decide to pick and choose our battles, at least he was eating.

noticed that Little A tends to sleep more now, however not all the time, instead he likes to sleep in the day a lot.

Since Little A has something he is very clingy but only when he wants to be, he can get extremely moody too. How many of you have a little one like this? Now think how many of you have an adult family member like this? I’m guessing it runs in the family, but for little ones at this age they don’t understand what is wrong with them or why they feel this way so they get scared and other times they are just frustrated.

When it comes to sleep it is best that they sleep a lot because it helps quick the cold sooner. Their body is able to fight the germs a lot faster for some reason. Of course this can definitely get a baby/toddler off their normal sleeping schedule, which can also iritate mom and dad. Thankfully we can have two different schedules since my husband works during the day and I stay home. If Little A sleeps more in the day it means I’ll just take naps with him and stay up with him at night.

Tips:
-  Try making sure your little one gets at least 8 hours sleep.
-  Naps are a good thing, even for a 2-year-old or adult
-  Have them drink plenty of fluids
-  Wipe things down, especially if you have school-age children.

What tips could you leave for parents going through this?

What type of delivery did mom have? If mom had a regular birth with no tears it may not be as uncomfortable going home. Mom may want to still take it easy though since it does make you slightly off-balanced once you’ve delivered a baby and no longer have that extra weight. Find out from “MOM” what she wants and how she feels.

If mom tore during delivery she may be a bit sore, especially if she had to get stitches. You would not believe the pain down there after giving birth and ripping open. The stitches sometimes get snagged on the clothing and it makes it very hard to use the restroom. Mom might need the following items:

- tucks (these will relieve the pain and help for hemorroids)
-  lots of rest and NO jumping around, you’ll pull those stitches)

If mom had a c-section there is an entire list of at home care, most of the time the doctor will give it to you before leaving the hospital. Make sure to follow it to the “t.”

Finally, make sure mom gets enough sleep and nutrition. Even if mom says she isn’t hungry she just gave birth and carried a child for 9-10 months in her body, she needs food. Also make sure mom has plenty of water and isn’t stressed. If mom says she would prefer no visitors for the first week, let her have the time alone. She may be trying to adjust or not want to stress over cleaning the house.

I hope this helps those that have a mom coming home from the hospital, she needs care too.
