Update: Nebraska New Safe Haven Law Issues

It was just last week that I told ya’ll about the new Safe Haven Law down in Nebraska. For many they think this is a good thing as it can help those getting abused, that is if the abuser would risk dropping the child off. The update is there are people dropping off their kids, in fact they had their first BIG drop off where a widowed father of nine dropped all of his kids off. I found this so heartbreaking when I read it in the paper.

The father claims he became overwhelmed with the loss of his wife and trying to support his nine kids.  When he heard about the new law he went to drop all his kids off which range between 1-17, his 18-year-old wouldn’t go but left. Those in charge of the new law in July are now wishing for the law to be changed, they didn’t expect for this to happen, 14 kids have already been dropped off. The children of the widowed father are hurting from many different issues, their mother died, their father has given up on them and many other issues.
