I remember having a few baby showers and going to a few showers in the military but none will compare to the one Las Vegas is having for the military on October 10th, 2009. There will be 32 expecting moms so a nonprofit organization known as “Operation Top Knot” that have put together this surprise baby shower. (probably not much of a surprise anymore)

I remember the “Soldiers’ Angels” as being the volunteers that made the beautiful hand-crocheted blankets that my children have all slept in. They also packaed little bags with a few sleepers, baby sheets and other baby assortments to help out. The group is still doing that but now they’ve extended it a bit further, the fathers that are deployed overseas now get bubblegum cigars that are either pink or blue and say, “It’s a boy” or “It’s a Girl!” Isn’t that sweet?
Here’s the info on the Baby Shower:
The shower will be held on October 10 at the Nevada National Guard Armory in Las Vegas, 6400 Range Road, from 1 p.m. to 3 pm. The press is welcome to attend, and no permission from Public Affairs is needed.
Soldiers’ Angels is a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing aid and comfort to America’s military men and women, as well as veterans and military families. For more information, see www.soldiersangels.org or contact Jody Shervanick of Soldiers’ Angels (702-862-6064), Top Knot Vice President Caren Vink (cvink@soldiersangels.org), or Yvette Weigold of Clark County Armory (702-632-0513).
I hope these ladies/men get the recognition they deserve and their baby shower goes off without a hitch.

This is such a wonderful idea. A good way to celebrate new life and help the community.
