Why the Media Attention over 13 Year Old Baby Daddy?

Some have asked “why do you think the media is all over this story?” and I think I have a few answers, granted I’d love your input as well. For those just coming around, there is a 15-year-old girl that just gave birth to a little girl, the father is a 13-year-old boy. By the way he has the cutest baby face and doesn’t look a day over 9.

Reasons for the Media:

- The fact both are young and underage draws a ton of attention.

-  The fact they were allowed to sleep in the same bed on numerous occasions.

-  Alfie, the 13-year-old dad, has a baby face that makes it hard to believe he IS that old.

-  The fact these two kids went to the media in the first place and were allowed to have their pictures plastered on all the magazines for the world to see. Most parents wouldn’t have allowed this and most kids that did this wouldn’t want the world knowing.

-  The two kids, I guess I should be calling them adults now since they have a child, are setting up interviews. They seem to be media hungry, just as much as the media wants them.

-  Alfie’s own dad is going around wearing a mask (devil mask) so that the media must pay to get his picture. Hmmm, media hungry too?

-  The two families have already got a PR team for both sides.

-  Now they even have a TV documentary following them around in the hopes of a new tv show/movie.

-  One also must wonder where the social services is in all this. So everyone keeps tuned in.

-  Two boys have came out stating they might be the daddy, a paternity test must now be done. Who will pay to have this paternity test done?  Remind you of a talk show?

-  Everyone likes a good show and this has become just that, watching the family unfold and see what falls out between the sheets. So far we have a boy that is now a father, a girl that has two other boys claiming to be, a father that tries getting money by wearing masks and now Alfie’s mom, Nicola, must face the Magistrate for her child being truant. No one knows just yet if this child is Alfie or another one.

-  There’s an inquiry over the whole tabloid due to the payment issue.   A code may have been broken when this story went forward.  The code: “Minors must not be paid for material involving children’s welfare, nor parents or guardians for material about their children or wards, unless it is clearly in the child’s interests”.  The family is looking at earning: £500,000, they are waiting on the highest bidder.

-  Alfie stated he’d pay for his baby and his girlfriend and support them. Everyone is wondering how he can do that when he hasn’t even finished school. course with all the media pay I can now see how. However, a new issue has come up, there is benefits these two could get for her being so young and being a mom, and if he really is the dad she, (Chantelle) may get money for him as well. Plus she may even get her own flat.

What do you think has the media craving for more of this story? Why do you think we want to know more?

It’s true, the media is all over this story. I thought it was just because we love the absurd- I had no idea the lengths the families and the ‘parents’ were going to get publicity for it. This video talks a lot about protecting their privacy- since they are minors (http://www.newsy.com/videos/young_father_sparks_media_debate/)- but I have to wonder if they want the protection? IT certainly doesn’t look like it.
